Susie Clausen debuts first solo show 'Saxy Susie' at Don't Tell Mama in NYC. Directed by Marilyn Maye and supported by 4 musicians and her own saxophone, Susie brings an enthusiastic tone to an upbeat and playful evening of songs.

City of Angels is playing at Hayes Theatre Co from 23 June 2023. The Tony Award winner captures the gritty sights and sounds of Hollywood's classic detective movies, set to a brilliant, jazzy Hollywood score.

This past year was filled with exceptional theatrical productions in the St. Louis Arts Community. Nearly every performance in 2022 at STAGES St. Louis, The Muny, The Black Rep and Midnight Company were entertaining with only a few misfires. As a long-time season ticket holder to The Fabulous Fox Theatre and a first-time attendee to New Line Theatre, I had the opportunity to see nearly every theatrical production that was staged in these venues. Instead of compiling a top ten list of best shows, I decided this would be the opportunity to recognize the best work, both performing and technical theater, that I observed in 2022. Without further ado, here are the ten best works on the stages of St. Louis throughout the past year. 

​​​​​​​BrightSide Theatre, Naperville's only professional theatre performing in the historic downtown district, continues with their Season 10 Again – to Fully Celebrate our 10th Anniversary – with this “killer” Hollywood musical comedy. 

Following two acclaimed performances of the show at 54Below, he’s ready to make his mark at The Green Room 42 in this special Birthday Bash Holiday Edition.  It’s the days between Christmas and New Year’s and the last two or so hours Andrew will still be in his 30s.  Putting his stamp on some of the theatre’s most famous female roles and many lesser-known gems, he explores his journey from suburbia to NYC through his earliest influences that created his deep love (or is it unhealthy obsession?) for the musical theatre.

54 BELOW, Broadway’s Supper Club, will present Ilene Graff in THE ILENE GRAFF HOLIDAY SHOW! on Wednesday, December 28th at 9:30 PM. Ilene and her very special guests will perform a host of holiday favorites inspired by the iconic Holiday specials of the ’60’s and ’70’s.

BIRDLAND JAZZ CLUB will present the 13th Annual “A Swinging Birdland Christmas” – starring vocalists Klea Blackhurst, Jim Caruso, and Billy Stritch – for six performances from Tuesday, December 20 to Sunday, December 25 at 5:30 PM.

Broadway @ Town Hall concert series will present Christine Ebersole in her Provincetown Town Hall debut for FIRST LIGHT FESTIVAL on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31 at 7:00 PM - for One Show Only - with renowned entertainer Billy Stritch at the piano.

CLUB44 RECORDS released Christmas at Birdland (Deluxe Edition) in all digital and streaming platforms on Friday, November 11. BIRDLAND THEATER will present acclaimed vocalist Carole J. Bufford in the New York debut of her concert “Vintage Pop!” for a special six-show run from Friday, December 9 through Sunday, December 11, with performances each night at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM.

The York Theatre Company has announced the roster of performers for a concert celebration at the 30th Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala, which will take place on Monday evening, November 14, 2022 at The Edison Rooftop.

Birdland Jazz Club will present Billy Gilman – the platinum-selling country music artist known for his run on NBC’s “The Voice” — in “A Billy Gilman Christmas” on Monday, December 5 at 7:00 PM.

Roberta Donnay has turned her attention to the legacy of Blossom Dearie for her 10th studio album BLOSSOM-ING!, subtitled 'Celebrating the Music of Blossom Dearie.' And it is a celebration indeed. Throughout her 3 decade career, Donnay has explored the many sounds and genres of the 20th century. She is a stylistic shape-shifter who is equally at home in rock, folk, and jazz. For this album, she accentuates the wispy quality of her instrument to match the ethereal nature of Dearie. She has captured Blossom Dearie's gift for playful storytelling and interplay between vocalist and instrumentalist. Her album is a joy to listen to from start to finish.

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater are open this November with a full slate of nightly performances! 

Eden Casteel brings Kahn Artist: Madeline And Me to Chicago on Friday, November 4, 8pm at Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret. In thirty seconds of comic, high-note humor, Kahn inspired Casteel to want to be just like her: 'wealthy, glamorous, with an unbelieveable singing voice.' (Well, two out of three ain't bad).
