Chicago Dancing Festival Announces Full Schedule for 10th Anniversary Season

CHICAGO —The Chicago Dancing Festival proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary of free programming featuring performances by leading ballet, modern and contemporary dancers from across the country, August 23-27, 2016. Just as the Festival draws from top dance companies, this year's program will once again be presented in Chicago's top downtown venues including the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park plus the highly anticipated return to Chicago's Landmark Stage, the Auditorium Theatre.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Announces Full Schedule for Upcoming 39th Season

CHICAGO – Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton are excited to announce the main company's 2016–17 season performances in Chicago. Tickets to four engagements at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park, located at 205 East Randolph Street in Chicago, are available immediately as a Season 39 subscription; single tickets will go on sale in late summer 2016.

Charlotte Ballet Welcomes New Artistic Director

?Charlotte Ballet board of trustees selected Hope Muir, currently the assistant artistic director of Scottish Ballet, as Charlotte Ballet's new artistic director. Muir's appointment is effective July 2017. Over the next year she will work closely with the board of trustees and staff in preparation for the 2017/2018 Season, her first as artistic director.

Camille A. Brown Wins the 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award

The 2016 Jacob's Pillow Dance Award, a prestigious honor that carries a $25,000 cash prize, will be presented to contemporary choreographer, dancer, and artistic director Camille A. Brown in acknowledgement of her vision and outstanding contributions to the dance field. Regularly garnering acclaim for her 'vividness and versatility' (Alastair Macaulay, The New York Times), Brown holds a New York Dance and Performance ('Bessie') Award, two Princess Grace Awards, a Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, and her work has toured nationally and internationally. The Jacob's Pillow Dance Award was established in 2007 and, in honor of its 10th anniversary, the Pillow has broadened the scope of this honor with a commitment to the artist's growth and future work. In addition to the unrestricted cash prize, this Award also includes a committed engagement for the 2017 Festival and a Creative Development Residency at Jacob's Pillow. Previous recipients of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Award include the legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham; MacArthur Fellows Michelle Dorrance and Kyle Abraham; and John Heginbotham of Dance Heginbotham, among others.

Following the critical acclaim and record-breaking ticket sales and attendance of Festival 2015, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival announces a new season of exciting programming featuring international artists, world premieres, and an impressive number of live music engagements. Pacific Northwest Ballet to Present EMERGENCE as Part of Dance Festival, Today

SEATTLE, WA – For the second program of its 43rd season, Pacific Northwest Ballet provides a crystal-ball look at the next generation of dance makers with EMERGENCE, a program of four contemporary works. PNB audiences have been counting the days until they could see Crystal Pite's Emergence again, and PNB dancers have felt the same way. Kiyon Gaines' Sum Stravinsky was another immediate favorite when it debuted in PNB's 2012 ALL PREMIERE program. The Calling, a haunting work by choreographer Jessica Lang, artistic director of Jessica Lang Dance, receives its PNB season premiere, alongside a world premiere by PNB's own Price Suddarth. EMERGENCE runs for seven performances only, November 6 through 15 at Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. Hubbard Street to Stage U.S. Premiere of SOLO ECHO

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, under the artistic direction of Glenn Edgerton, announces today its second mainstage engagement of the 2015-16 dance season. December 10-13, 2015 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the Season 38 Winter Series featurxes the Hubbard Street premiere and first production by a U.S. dance company of Solo Echo by Crystal Pite, originally created for Nederlands Dans Theater in 2012. Inspired by poet Mark Strand's Lines for Winter and set to excerpts from two sonatas for cello and piano by Johannes Brahms, opuses 38 and 99, Solo Echo is exemplary of the fluidity with which Pite's choreography shifts between dance and theater, using classical and contemporary techniques.
