The world premiere of Afflicted: Daughters of Salem, written by Laurie Brooks opened Friday January 31 on the stage of the Coterie Theatre in Kansas City, Mo. The National Endowment for the Arts award winning drama directed by Jeff Church, Producing Artistic Director at the Coterie, is the tale of the teenage girls who were instrumental in the infamous Salem witch trials.

The tragic love story of the ages, Romeo and Juliet, playing at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre runs through February 9. William Shakespeare's disastrous tale of family feuds, loyalty, and teenage love has stood the test of times. Directed by Eric Rosen, Artistic Director for the KC Rep, the production with minimal scenery and beautiful elaborate costumes, designed by Lindsay W. Davis and Lauren Gaston, which transports the audience back to Verona, Italy.

Afflicted: Daughters of Salem, a World Premiere, opens Tuesday January 28 at the Coterie Theater, in Kansas City, Mo. The UMKC Theatre Department is co-producing the National Endowment for the Arts award-winning drama by playwright Laurie Brooks, and directed by Jeff Church. The Coterie, an equity theater, has been co-producing plays with the UMKC Department of Theatre since 1992, in an effort to give MFA actors an opportunity to work with established theater professionals.

The Theatre School at DePaul University proudly presents NUMBER THE STARS, by Dr. Douglas W. Larche with Susan Elliott Larche, based on the novel by Lois Lowry, and directed by Ernie Nolan, as the second production of the 2013-2014 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences season. This production opens Saturday, January 18, and runs through Saturday, February 22, 2014, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10 AM, and Saturdays at 2 PM. A special Sunday performance (2 PM) will be held on February 16. There will be no Saturday performance on February 15. Friday performances are on February 14 and 21 (10 AM).
