The 4th Annual Wells of Life Gala and Auction took place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Mission Viejo Country Club with the Laguna Beach 501(c) (3) nonprofit - raising record-setting gross receipts in excess of $173,000. Warsaw's Ester Rachel and Ida Kaminska State Jewish Theater to Make First NYC Appearance Since 1980s

The Shalom Foundation and New York's National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, currently in its historic 100th season, will present The Ester Rachel and Ida Kaminska State Jewish Theater from Warsaw, Poland to New York audiences. This is the first time the Polish Yiddish Theater company, also known as The State Jewish Theater, has toured in North America since the 1980's.

The American Society of the University of Haifa held it's 2014 Gala at the American Museum of Natural History last night. Jamie deRoy was the Master of Ceremonies and introduced Ambassador Ido Aharoni,Consul General of Israel who spoke, as well as other dignitaries from the University. At the podium were Yariv Sultan VP, Professor Alfred I. Tauber, Chairman Board of Governors, and Yefet Ozery National Executive Director of ASUH. Sandra Frankel represented the Leona M. and Harry B Helmsley Charitable Trust was presented a Carmel Award of Merit by Leon H. Charney. Audrey Gruss was also presented a Carmel Award which was presented by Professor Alfred I. Tauber. There was a musical performance by Israeli artists Guy Mintus, pianist/compser and opera singer Maya Yahav Gour.

It was fitting that the World Premiere of "A Voice Among the Silent" was held in the only United States synagogue to be honored with a papal visit in 2008, when Pope Benedict XVI was hosted by the the congregation and Rabbi Arthur Schneier. This eye opening documentary about James McDonald, the son of Catholic immigrants, was almost lost to history until his meticulously kept diaries were discovered in 2003.

A champion of music theatre in all its diversity, Toronto Operetta Theatrepresents the Canadian Premiere of the Spanish zarzuela, LA GRAN VIA by Chueca and Valverde onSunday, November 2, 2014 at 2 pm at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts. Premiered at Teatro Felipe in 1886, this renowned zarzuela is a bold mixture of comic fantasy, social comment, political satire and the indelible music of Spain. The work was inspired by the creation of a gleaming new avenue in the heart of Madrid - La Gran Via – a thoroughfare that has become as famous as London's Piccadilly or Broadway in New York. “We have taken Chueca's short form zarzuela or genero chico” says Guillermo Silva-Marin, “and added well-known works from other zarzuela masters…just as was done during that time in Madrid.” The full afternoon will be a musical revue in the grand manner of the world's most exciting entertainment centres.

McDonald,' a new documentary by Shuli Eshel about James G. Nearly eleven hundred people filled Beverly Hills Temple of the Arts at the Saban Theatre on Friday evening, June 13, 2014 for an International Evening of Music and Remembrance honoring Holocaust survivor and member of the Dutch Resistance, Curt Lowens, who saved 125 Jewish children and two downed American pilots during the Holocaust. Composer Sharon Farber's Bestemming: Concerto for Cello, Orchestra and Narration, which Curt Lowens served as the inspiration for, was performed with Lowens appearing as the Narrator, along with Ruslan Biryukov who appeared as the Cello Soloist, supported by the Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra led by Conductor Frank Fetta.
