Good News Musical Theatre Fans! BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed Lincoln Center Theater's THE KING AND I, which features a cast led by Kelli O'Hara (as Anna Leonowens) and Ken Watanabe (as the King of Siam) will receive a cast recording this summer on the the Decca Broadway / Universal Music Classics label, produced by David Lai David Caddick and Bruce Pomahac. Of note, the the production features the musical's original 1951 orchestrations by Robert Russell Bennett with dance and incidental music arranged by Trude Rittmann. Music director Ted Sperling conducts a 29-piece orchestra which will be heard on the album as well.

Just last night, the Lodge at Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel, hosted a party celebrating one of Broadway's favorite stars- Stockard Channing! Six Degrees of Stockard Channing was attended by all sorts of Broadway luminaries which, in the style of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, have some connection to Ms. Channing. Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown's much-loved stage musical The Last Five Years gets the big screen treatment in The Last Five Years- a dynamic, achingly romantic new film from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Richard LaGravenese (The Fisher King) and starring Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick (Into the Woods, Pitch Perfect) and Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, 'Smash').

The Lion, the gripping, highly acclaimed autobiographical solo show written and performed by Benjamin Scheuer, opened last night, February 8th, at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project (45 Bleecker Street). Directed by Sean Daniels, The Lion will play an extended engagement Off-Broadway through March 29th, following an award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and sold-out productions at the Manhattan Theatre Club and London's St. James Theatre. It's that time of year, and everyone is making their lists. For me, this task is always harder than it probably should be. I wrestle with myself and debate the merits of everything. I worry about who might get their feelings hurt, and whom I may accidentally overlook. So, for 2014, I promised myself to make a simple list of the 10 albums from 2014 that I simply couldn't get enough of. Naturally, that list is actually 15 items long. (Surprise!)

Brooke Shields attended HERE LIES LOVE at the Pubilc Theater last night, where she went down to the dressing rooms after the show to visit the cast. Brooke related stories of when she, as a young girl of 16, was invited to open the Philippines Film Festival and spent a weekend with Imelda Marcos in Manila. The disco musical hit is running through January 4th before embarking on a world tour and the current stars are Jaygee Macapugay as Imelda, Jose Llana as Ferdinand Marcos and Conrad Ricamora as Ninoy Aquino.
