More than 400 guests joined Olympians and stars of stage and screen to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students at the annual Point Honors gala the landmark New York Public Library last night. The evening celebrated the accomplishments of Point Foundation's (Point), higher education scholarship recipients. More than $500,000 was raised for Point, the nation's largest scholarship-granting organization for LGBTQ students of merit.
Point Foundation will present five-time Olympic medalist Greg Louganis with the Point Legend Award, which recognizes an individual who has achieved greatness in their professional career and unapologetically supported the LGBTQ community. In addition to the previously announced appearance from the cast of BRIGHT STAR, BroadwayWorld exclusively reported that Tony winner Lena Hall will perform at this evening's special event.

The new American play Eclipsed by Danai Gurira, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, officially opened last night, March 6th, 2016 on Broadway at the Golden Theatre (252 W. 45th Street). The play also stars Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah and Saycon Sengbloh and is directed by Liesl Tommy. As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Ken Watanabe's return to THE KING AND I has been postponed after recently undergoing endoscopic surgery in Japan. Now we've confirmed with a Lincoln Center representative that he will officially return to THE KING AND I on Thursday, March 17. Hoon Lee, who is currently playing the King of Siam, will play his final performance on Wednesday, March 16.
