Performances Begin Tomorrow for THE ESSENCE at Theatre 154

Performances will begin tomorrow for THE ESSENCE: A YIDDISH THEATRE DIM SUM, a fast-paced comedy which has been playing to sellout crowds for over a decade throughout the Northeast and Europe as well as at the NY International Fringe Festival.

BASHEVIS'S DEMONS To Be Presented At Out of the Box Theatre

BASHEVIS'S DEMONS, which debuted in Stockholm in December 2023, will make its official Off-Broadway bow at Out of the Box Theatre, 154 Christopher Street (between Greenwich & Washington Streets), with performances beginning December 18th and running through January 5th.

Each April 19th, the Congress for Jewish Culture, along with Friends of the Bund, Jewish Labor Committee and Workers Circle, has organized a gathering of musicians, academics, and survivors and their families at ‘Der Shteyn’ (the stone) in the Warsaw Ghetto Memorial Plaza in Riverside Park, (83rd/84th Streets). 'Night Of The Murdered Poets' Commemoration Set For This Thursday Evening At The Wild Project  

On the night of August 12, 1952, 13 Jewish writers, artists, journalists, and scientists were executed by a firing squad in Moscow's infamous Lubyanka prison after years of confinement and torture to extract false confessions of treason and espionage. This mass execution, which would become known as the “Night of the Murdered Poets,” was one of Joseph Stalin's last crimes before his death six months later.

Stockholm’s prestigious Royal Dramatic Theatre commissioned America’s Congress for Jewish Culture to present director Moshe Yassur’s critically acclaimed 2013 Off-Broadway Yiddish language staging of WAITING FOR GODOT. The production played to three sold out houses November 13th and 14th.
