The Second City and the Toronto Symphony are coming together for a comedic classical collaboration that strikes the perfect chord. But for the Second City performers taking the stage this weekend at Roy Thompson Hall, they've found working with the symphony does come with some challenges.
The Toronto Symphony Orchestra and The Second City Toronto have joined forces for the world premiere of THE SECOND CITY GUIDE TO THE ORCHESTRA. Celebrating their shared love of symphonic music and comedy, the two eminent organizations conspired very closely together throughout all stages of the project to create the first programme of its kind in Canada.

What else? They'll be joined by Amber Nash, Lucky Yates, The Atlanta Opera, and Zoetic Dance Ensemble. Also, Margaret Mroczek, clunkyrobot, Travis Overstreet, August Pollak, Ed Morgan and Perry Frost with rock your eye sockets out with their visual art skills during the show (their work will be available for purchase after). And we'll have the finest noshing delights from King of Pops, Pallookaville Fine Foods, and Good Food Truck to fill your belly with. Not too shabby, right? It gets better! This event is a fundraiser for Dad's Garage Theatre Company, so you can rest assured your money is going to a good place -- or at least a sassy non-profit arts organization.

The Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award was inaugurated in 1996 and is given to a Canadian artist who demonstrates excellence in the performing arts and is dedicated to advocating and being an ambassador for the arts in Canada. The Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award is presented every two years and is sponsored by the City of Toronto. The recipient is awarded with an official scroll from the City and this year the City has increased the cash prize from $1,000 to $ 1,750.

The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts today announced the performance calendar for its inaugural 2014-15 season, with a total of 33 productions, performing groups and individual artists - exclusive of September grand opening events and subscription performances by its resident companies. It's Always Something is a once a year special event in Toronto that raises money for Gilda's Club, an incredibly important charity that honours the memory of the late Gilda Radner by providing a place for those suffering from cancer to go to escape, to laugh and to connect with others.
