Ailey II, the youthful and gifted second company of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, returns to its home, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, from March 13- 24 for a highly anticipated two-week season - the first led by recently appointed Artistic Director Troy Powell. The 14 exciting performances experienced through two dynamic programs come on the heels of a successful North American tour to over 20 cities and an array of critically-acclaimed performances in Germany and France.

Broadway's 'Golden Couple', husband and wife team Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, will bring their newese show He Said/She Said to The Annenberg Theatre for one very special performance tonight, February 23 at 8:00 pm.

This July, Prospect Theater Company will build upon its education initiative for musical theater students aged 12-17. Beginning Monday, July 8 and running through Today, July 27, selected students will participate in a daily musical theater training program from 10am-6pm (Sundays off).

Now in its 15th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook celebrates the best in American singing and songwriting with a new chapter in the Songbook story: 'American Songbook in the Penthouse,' a series of weekend-only performances by performers and composers presented in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, an intimate yet elegant venue that brings artists closer to the audience in a cabaret-style setting. 'American Songbook in the Penthouse' embraces adventuresome performers and celebrates composers and lyricists, both newer and veteran. With a seating capacity of just 225, the Kaplan Penthouse allows acoustic performers to be heard the way they intend - near to the audience and without elaborate amplification. The size of the space also allows performers to interact with their audience to make them an integral part of their performance, something difficult to do in a larger, more formal venue.

American Stage Theatre Company has announced its After Hours events this March with everything from the comedy improv to cabaret music at its best. This month the stage will have five entertaining events.

The Studebakers, known for their beautiful vocal blends and swinging harmonies will appear as part of The TexARTS Cabaret Series tonight, February 22 at 8p.m. Expect to rediscover those marvelous melodies from the 1920's, '30's and '40's in an evening that will feature such hits as, 'Mr. Sandman,' 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' and 'Dream a Little Dream of Me.' The Studebakers have been a staple of the Austin music scene for over 20 years and are known for their fresh renditions of the classics made famous by the Andrews Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, Louie Armstrong and others.

Broadway In Chicago has announced that individual tickets for the Roundabout Theatre Company's national tour of ANYTHING GOES will go on-sale to the public Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. ANYTHING GOES will play the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 West Randolph) for a limited engagement April 23 - May 5, 2013.

The national tour of ANYTHING GOES is coming to Heinz Hall from April 16-21, 2013.

Today in 1955, Silk Stockings opened at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 478 performances. Silk Stockings is a musical with a book by George S. Kaufman, Leueen MacGrath, and Abe Burrows and music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The musical is loosely based on the Melchior Lengyel story Ninotchka and the 1939 film adaptation it inspired. It ran on Broadway in 1955. This was the last musical that Porter wrote for the stage.

Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra will perform at McLean's Alden Theatre at 8 p.m.,Saturday, Feb. 23. Tickets are $30, $20 for tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

One month ago, 35 gifted lyricists, composers and librettists took up residency at Goodspeed Musicals in East Haddam, CT for the first ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony to participate in an environment of discovery and inspiration. Working in teams and housed in specially constructed quintessential New England two story cottages each equipped with a piano, the teams worked on over 30 musicals during the course of the month. On Saturday February 16, the residency program concluded with a Salon as had been done each week featuring a sparkling sampler of new musicals that were worked on throughout the month. The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the 2013 Blossom Music Festival season. The Orchestra will present 19 concerts at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Valley National Park from July 3 - September 1.

Prospect Theater Company will present a developmental reading of TAMAR OF THE RIVER, a new music theater work with music and book by Marisa Michelson and book and lyrics by Joshua H. Cohen. The reading will be directed by Daniel Goldstein.
