Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced that Daniel Banks has been awarded the Alan Schneider Director Award.

Padua kicks off the 2020 season with a series of performances in June of Blackouts, written and directed by Murray Mednick. With Blackoutsthe celebrated avant-garde playwright and director brings his poetic gifts to bear on the Covid-19 crisis.

Oak Cliff's premiere multicultural and multidiscipline center for the arts, Bishop Arts Theatre Center (BATC), is celebrating a milestone this year with the announcement of its 25th Anniversary Silver Threads Season. Executive Artistic Director Teresa Coleman Wash and Board of Directors President Boderick Hall announced this morning a season that is filled with theatre, jazz, special events, a speaker series, arts education initiatives and the return of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity for its 15th year on stage with Bishop Arts Theatre Center. Founder and Executive Artistic Director Teresa Wash was jubilant with the announcement stating, 'For 25 years the Bishop Arts Theatre Center has been a cornerstone of the arts & culture in our community. We have been intentional about being more than a theatre, our goal has been to be a neighborhood resource center for the arts. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone anniversary!'

McCarter is proud to welcome a group of esteemed and emerging playwrights and theater artists to Princeton for the Sallie B. Goodman Artists' Retreat. The annual Retreat in June is a centerpiece of McCarter's LAB, a platform and creative incubator devoted to ongoing theatrical development and artist cultivation. The 2018 Retreat will take place from June 6 - June 13.

Mixed Blood Theatre today announced the cast for SAFE AT HOME-a site specific theatrical event performed at CHS Field in St. Paul. Directed by Mixed Blood Artistic Director Jack Reuler and featuring 18 actors, this 9-scene thriller uses baseball to examine flawed US immigration policies, racial politics, America's obsession with celebrity, and the collision of personal ethics with massive entertainment and media dollars. 

The Open Fist Theatre Company presents an 'Early Look' at the second installment of Murray Mednick's eight-play 'Gary Plays" cycle, directed by Padua Playwrights Artistic Director Guy Zimmerman. Three performances of Part 2 (comprised of Mednick's Out of the Blue, portions of Gary's Walk and DaddyO Dies Well) will be presented on April 22nd, 23rd & 24th at the Greenway Court Theatre, 544 N. Fairfax in Los Angeles, paving the way for a full production of the entire octet in the Fall of 2016.

The West Coast premiere of playwright Martin Zimmerman's involving SEVEN SPOTS ON THE SUN receives a splendid, mesmerizing mounting with all the artistic elements artfully converging into one of the best and riveting theatrical experience I've seen in the Los Angeles theatre scene this year.

The Theatre @ Boston Court presents Seven Spots on the Sun, by Martin Zimmerman, directed by Michael John Garces. This co-production with Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre opens Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 5pm on the Main Stage at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue in Pasadena.

L. Frank Baum's beloved classic story of Dorothy and her friends in the land of Oz gets a reboot-literally-in a video game setting. OZ 2.5, a world premiere by Catherine Trieschmann, wraps up the Theatre for Young Audiences season at South Coast Repertory, May 22-June 7, on the Julianne Argyros stage.
