The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, in association with Lyric Unlimited, has announced the return of Beyond the Aria - the highly acclaimed performance series produced by the Harris Theater which pairs internationally celebrated opera singers of Lyric's mainstage alongside rising stars from The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The Old Opera House Theatre Company held the 16th Annual New Voice Play Festival this past weekend at the Old Opera House in Charles Town. Four new plays were featured in this event and the audience served as the final judge. The Old Opera House patrons selected the play Grim Tidings by Dennis Jones from Powhatan, VA as their favorite of the festival. All four plays received positive reviews from the Old Opera House patrons and the participants in this year's festival.

Get ready for even more craziness with the Verdeen cousins as a huge helping of southern fried comedy, the farce Rex's Exes, debuts at the Old Opera House. Directed by Will Heyser-Paone, this stand-alone sequel written by Jones-Hope-Wooten, the comedic trio behind hits such as The Dixie Swim Club and The Hallelujah Girls, will premiere at the Old Opera House. Gaynelle Verdeen refuses to admit that she's turning 50, so her cousins attempt to throw her a surprise birthday party. However, the surprise is on them when the cousins are forced to turn the party into a full fledged family funeral!

The Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2015/16 organ recital series continues with internationally celebrated soprano Christine Brewer and 'America's leading organ performer' (The Economist) Paul Jacobs. The two Grammy Award-winning musicians join forces for a rare voice and organ recital at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday evening, January 24, at 7:30 PM, in a program of vocal music as well as solo organ works by composers ranging from Bach and Handel to Puccini, Reger, and Nadia and Lili Boulanger. Much of the concert's repertoire can also be heard on the duo's recently released album, Divine Redeemer.

Los Angeles, CA (November 11, 2015) - The Los Angeles Philharmonic's 2015/16 organ recital series begins with a performance from organist Raúl Prieto Ramírez on Sunday, November 22 at 7:30pm at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Making his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut, Prieto Ramírez will perform a wide-ranging program highlighted by Bach's C-minor Passacaglia in addition to Franz Liszt's Mephisto Waltz and other works transcribed for organ by Prieto Ramírez. He is the first Spanish organist in recent times to establish himself among the elite of the international concert scene. His powerful personality, passionate expressiveness, gift for communication, and outstanding technique make him shine in a wide range of repertoire and styles. Joey DiGuglielmo of the Washington Blade has described Prieto Ramírez as 'the whole package - flawless technique and solid repertoire executed with the flair and bravado of a matador.'
