Abingdon Theatre Co. Presents Reading Of New Play Inspired The Legacy Of Lenny Bruce

Abingdon Theatre Company (Tony Speciale, Artistic Director; Denise Dickens, Producing Director) continues its 2017-2018 Ghostlight Reading Series this month with a provocative new work inspired by the legacy of legendary comic Lenny Bruce: Buyer Beware, a new play by Michael Weller, will receive a reading presentation Monday March 26 at 7PM at The DR2 Theatre, 101 E. 15th Street. Four projects representing diverse world voices, each with bold and independent visions of how art can elevate the human experience, comprise this year's selected projects for the two-week Sundance Institute Theatre Lab at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), convening December 3-17, 2017, with a public performance of another project slated for December 9. The Theatre Labs process is rigorous and generative. Dedicated to the creation and development of forward-thinking theater; projects are cast individually, rehearsed daily and benefit from concentrated, uninterrupted time and resources.

The Old Globe today announced the creative team for the next show of the Globe's 2017 2018 Season, acclaimed actor and playwright James Lecesne's tour-de-force one-man show, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey. This thoroughly entertaining new play is directed by Tony Speciale and will run September 30 October 29, 2017 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Previews run September 30 October 4, with opening night on Thursday, October 5 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $30 and are now on sale.
