BWW Blog: Kelly McCormick of PTC's LES MISERABLES

Hey BroadwayWorld.com! Hello from Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City, where we're deep in rehearsals for Les Miserables. This ever-popular musical is making a comeback - literally - and, no, I don't mean an uptick in ticket sales since the movie was released last December. PTC was the first regional theatre to produce Les Mis, in 2007, where it played for 10 sold-out weeks. So it's no surprise that we're here again, just six years later, bringing this amazing story to life.

VIDEO: New Web Comedy Series WALLFLOWERS - Episode 1

WALLFLOWERS, a narrative comedy web series by filmmaker Kieran Turner (director of acclaimed doc Jobriath A.D), world premieres this week with the first of five weekly episodes on Blip TV. Set in the cruelly comedic dating world of modern NYC, WALLFLOWERS details the disastrous romantic exploits of a tight knit group of Gen-X stragglers coping with the ecstasy and the agony of single life - as members of a Manhattan support group for the hopelessly single. Watch the first episode below!

BWW Reviews: The Rep Presents Stellar BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS

It may seem odd that over the course of 46 seasons the Rep has never produced a work by prolific playwright Neil Simon, and yet it makes sense in a way. Simon has actually been overproduced by community theatres around the country, and the Rep is dedicated to seeking out new works, and putting a spin on timeless classics, so it's only logical that they've taken this long to get one of his works produced. Still, they've finally gotten around to him, and their production of BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS is a memorable one, with the laughter and the tears flowing in great abundance. It's a wonderful start to what promises to be an entertaining season.

This intriguing and semi-autobiographical play will be performed on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts, 130 Edgar Road (on the campus of Webster University), Webster Groves, September 5-30, 2012.

BWW Reviews: Go Dream a Little at John W.Engeman Theater's 42ND STREET

In 42nd Street, the latest production tap dancing its way on stage at the John W. Engeman Theater through June 17th, Peggy Sawyer is that girl. A rookie actress from Allentown, PA, she quite literally bumps into the opportunity of a lifetime - the chance to be part of big time director Julian Marsh's new musical. Darien Crago is instantly likeable as Peggy - bright-eyed and full of positivity. And she has every reason to be that way - the girl can dance circles around anyone without breaking a sweat (especially in the delightful dance competition between Crago and Drew Humphrey on a city street). In the right place at the right time, she gets a part in the show and more off-stage drama than she bargained for.
