The National Jazz Museum in Harlem has added a slew of new events with Jonathan Batiste. Below you will find the entire calendar of events for September with three new Jazz Is:Now! additions. The museum is also happy to announce that Greg Thomas will host next Tuesday's 'Words on Bird' event accompanied by pianst Chris Pattishall.
2013 Thelonious Monk Int'l Jazz Saxophone Competition & All-Star Gala Concert Set for 9/16

The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz today announced the 2013 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition and All-Star Gala Concert will take place at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 16. The 2013 Competition and Gala is made possible through generous support from Cadillac, the presenting sponsor for the weekend.

The Asbury Musical Heritage Foundation is presenting the colorful metal murals, and large-scale prints by music photographers George Wirt and Tony Graves. The show, ASBURY PARK: JAZZ AND BLUES MECCA, runs through this weekend Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30. It features Jazz and Blues artists in performance in venues and festivals of Asbury Park and includes Dave Valentine, Tony Bennett, Stanley Jordan, B.B. King, Mindi Abair, Lonnie Liston Smith, the Dirty Dozen Jazz Band, Jimmy Health, Nelson Rangel and many others.

Single tickets to the 2013-2014 Texas Performing Arts season go on sale Friday, June 14th. In celebration, tickets to all season performances will be discounted for one day only. From midnight - 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 14th, single tickets to all 2013-2014 season performances will be priced at 15% off face value. The Hartt School will welcome acclaimed tenor saxophonist Javon Jackson as Associate Professor of Jazz and Chair of the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz. Jackson, who's appointment begins in August, will serve as the educational and administrative leader for the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, and will teach, work with ensembles, assist in recruitment and development efforts, and represent the Institute and The Hartt School both internally and externally.
