Leighton Meester Will Not Reprise Role in VERONICA MARS Film

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leighton Meester will not reprise her role of Carrie Bishop in the highly anticipated VERONICA MARS big screen adaptation. Creator Rob Thomas announced the news on Sunday.

Sundance Institute just presented playwright and Sundance Institute Theatre Lab alum Branden Jacobs-Jenkins with the first-ever Tennessee Williams Award from the Institute's Theatre Program, which supports the development of new work for the stage. Sundance Institute Emeritus Trustee Sally Field presented the honor and accompanying $10,000 grant at the Celebrate Sundance Institute benefit for its Theatre Program last night at Stephan Weiss Studio in Greenwich Village. The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, will present the 16th Annual Festival from August 10th- 26. FringeNYC will offer programming by 187 of the world's best emerging theatre troupes and dance companies in 20 venues in Lower Manhattan. With attendance topping 75,000 people, FringeNYC is New York City's fifth largest cultural event (just behind New York International Auto Show, Tribeca Film Festival, New York City Marathon, and New York Comic Con). Un-Common Theatre Company Announces Boston Children's Theatre Festival Events

On Sunday, July 15th 2012, theatre lovers of all ages will be joining hundreds of Boston area children and teens at the 5th annual CBACT Children's Theatre Festival, hosted this year by the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston in Newton, MA, home of JCC Kaleidoscope Camp and JCC Showstoppers. This full day of theatre includes interactive workshops and live performances from children's theatres throughout the Greater Boston area -- one of which is Mansfield/Foxboro's Un-Common Theatre Company.
