Academy Award and GRAMMY(R) Award-winning superstar Jennifer Hudson will perform on the BOSTON POPS FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR, an entertainment special to be broadcast live from the Charles River Esplanade in Boston, Wednesday, July 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.

25 year-old pianist Eldar Djangirov will return to the Blue Note for the first time in three years with legendary guitarist Pat Martino. Eldar and Martino have been playing together frequently over the past year, both in quartet and duo settings. The pair initially teamed up in late 2009 for a tribute gig to guitar icon Les Paul at the Iridium in New York and later joined for the Lincoln Center 'Generations in Jazz Festival' in 2010. Over the past months, they've been playing a mix of each other's originals and standards like 'Round Midnight' and 'In Walked Bud.' 'Playing with Pat, you always have to be on your toes,' Eldar told the San Diego Anthology. 'This has been a great and very satisfying experience for me, and I think we'll keep playing together a few times each year.'

The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced its 23nd season of world-class performing artists. The 2012-13 season includes 52 performances of 36 shows from a wide range of categories including Broadway, popular music, comedy, dance, classical music, world music and jazz, family offerings and theater. More than half of the 36 scheduled shows will make their first appearance at the Lied Center. See below for details.

The season kicks off on August 31 with comedy legend Steve Martin joined by the Grammy nominated Steep Canyon Rangers.
