The Carlyle Hotel has welcomed acclaimed vocalist Steve Tyrell back to the Cafe Carlyle for his seventh consecutive holiday engagement in the legendary New York venue. Playing through Saturday, December 31, 2011), backed by his swinging big band, Steve will once again offer an evening of standards from the Great American Songbook, holiday favorites, and selections from his many popular recordings in a program entitled This Time of the Year. The Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington, announced today that Grammy- and Academy-Award-winning songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David will join the ranks of Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, and Paul McCartney as recipients of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Bacharach and David each will receive the Library's Gershwin Medal next spring at an all-star tribute in Washington D.C.
