Jolie's SALT Sequel Lands New Writer; Film Back on Pre-Production Track

Columbia Pictures is ready to ink a deal with PRINCE OF TIDES writer Becky Johnston to take on the upcoming sequel to SALT, starring Angelina Jolie, The Hollywood Reporter revealed tonight. Johnston is best known for writing 1991's PRINCE OF TIDES, which starred Barbra Streisand, and 1997's INTO THE TIBET, which featured Jolie's soon-to-be-husband, Brad Pitt. SALT's sequel would mark her first venture into action-thriller territory.

As previously reported, Cyndi Lauper is writing the music and lyrics for KINKY BOOTS - The Musical, with a book by Harvey Fierstein, and Jerry Mitchell as director/choreographer. Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig are on board as producers and Stephen Oremus will be the musical supervisor.
BroadwayWorld.com has learned the musical will hold a January reading in New York City, for which casting is already under way.
