BroadwayWorld is deeply saddened to report the passing of Broadway icon Chita Rivera, who, as shared by her beloved daughter Lisa Mordente, died peacefully on January 30, 2024 in New York after a brief illness. 

From the horse-race track to the Broadway stage, Lyric Theatre opens its 2024 season with Small, a hit one-man show direct from a critically-acclaimed run Off-Broadway.

The complete cast has been revealed for Lempicka, the highly anticipated new musical celebrating the true story of renowned artist Tamara de Lempicka. Learn who is joining the previously announced Eden Espinosa, Amber Iman, and more!

Next week, the theater podcast Backstage Babble, hosted by 16-year-old theater buff Charles Kirsch, will be hosting a “Week of Wine and Roses” featuring in-depth interviews with members of the cast and creative team of the new musical Days of Wine and Roses.

PEAK Performances at Montclair State University is producing two opera-in-concert performances of Blind Injustice, composed by Montclair State University College of the Arts faculty member Scott Davenport Richards (A Star Across the Ocean, Charlie Crosses the Nation) with a libretto by David Cote (Three Way, The Scarlet Ibis).

 The American Theatre Guild will present HADESTOWN, the winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best New Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

For the 6th time since the beginning of the 80s, West Side Story, the Berstein-Sondheim Laurents masterpiece, was back in Paris for a limited run as part of a French tour before going to Sydney in April. In sync with the release of the Bradley Cooper biopic Maestro, it is great that younger generations are able to get a look at the real original thing.

The upcoming West End production of Hadestown has released a video of Gloria Onitiri performing 'Our Lady Of The Underground'! Gloria will be playing the role of Persephone when Hadestown begins performances in London on 10 February at the Lyric Theatre.
