Michael Feingold Play Kicks Off Direct Art Take Two Programming

Direct Arts is proud to announce the new season of its acclaimed double bill of theater and film, Take Two, which will begin on Tuesday, January 11th at 7PM with a presentation of Jeff Sousa's short film THE HIROSAKI PLAYERS and a staged reading of JAPANOIR by noted Village Voice theater critic Michael Feingold.

FLIPZOIDS Set For Off-Broadway Run In January

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Ma-Yi Theater Company - one of the country's leading Asian-American theater companies and whose most recent production was Michael Lew's play MICROCRISIS directed by Ralph B. Pena - will continue its 2010-11 season with FLIPZOIDS, a play written by Mr. Pena, with previews set to begin January 11 prior to an official opening on January 18 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre (416 W. 42 St.) in Manhattan.

Shakespeare Theatre of NJ Presents Brecht’s 'WOMAN OF SZECHWAN' Reading, 10/4

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's new play reading series - Lend Us Your Ears - continues with The Good Woman of Szechwan by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Eric Bentley. The one-night-only reading, featuring a cast of prominent actors, will take place on Monday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Shakespeare Theatre's Main Stage, the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. (at Lancaster Road) in Madison. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students. Theatre C Artistic Awarded Princess Grace Special Project Grant

Theatre C has had an exciting inaugural season! Following its extended run of Jesse Zaritt's BINDING as part of the 7th Annual soloNOVA Arts Festival at Performance Space 122, the company was nominated for three New York Innovative Theatre Awards including Best Choreography, Best Solo Performance, and Best Performance Art Piece.

Ching Valdes-Aran and Ali Ewoldt are set to star in Diverse City Theater's The Pearl Project. Performances run July 6-25 at the Clurman Theatre, and will feature full-length plays by Eric Gamalinda and Jorshinelle Taleon-Sonza and two one-acts, by Kristine M. Reyes. Valdes-Aran will star in Gamalinda's Resurrection, and Ewoldt in Reyes' Quarter Century Baby. Additional casting and creative teams are yet to be announced.

ACT & YBCA Present New Piece 'The Tosca Project' Oct.26-28

American Conservatory Theater (ACT) kicks off its 'First Look 'new works series for the 2007-08 season with The Tosca Project, created by ACT Artistic Director Carey Perloff and choreographer Val Caniparoli. The piece, scheduled for a workshop presentation at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum October 26-28, will feature the talents of internationally renowned dancers and actors, many of them associated with San Francisco Ballet and ACT.

Federico Garcia Lorca's classic play The House of Bernarda Alba, about a household of women repressed by a domineering mother, and William Finn's modern classic musical Falsettoland, about a gay/straight/divorced/married extended family of New Yorkers preparing for a son's bar mitzvah, will be presented by the Obie Award-winning National Asian American Theatre Company (NAATCO) in June 2007 in NYC.
