City College Center for the Arts and Clark Center NYC to Present FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH

City College Center for the Arts and Clark Center NYC join together in celebration of The Clark Center for the Performing Arts with a presentation of the acclaimed dance/narrative series From the Horse's Mouth on Thursday, October 1 and Friday October 2 at Aaron Davis Hall. The From the Horse's Mouth production will serve as the culmination of Clark Center NYC's weeklong residency at City College Center for the Arts, made possible, in part, by funding from the CUNY Dance Initiative. Performances of From the Horse's Mouth begin at 7pm. A reception will follow the October 1 performance.

Sony Pictures Classics has just announced a December 11, 2015 release date for THE LADY IN THE VAN, Alan Bennett's adaptation of his commercial and critical West End hit, based on his own bestselling memoir. Dame Maggie Smith, stage vet and star of DOWNTON ABBEY, will reprise one of her most-loved stage roles for the big screen, under the direction of Nicholas Hytner.

In the project's latest iteration, Rudolph has gathered his longest collaborating group of musicians based in New York, for a series of elegant, diversely textured pieces that form aSonic Mandala (Meta Records; release: September 17, 2013). Following a compositional and conducting approach Rudolph has honed over decades of contemplation, performance, and creation, the group delineates a space where contemporary classical, jazz, and global traditions effortlessly converge.

Fela Kuti Book Author Sues Broadway Production

According to USA Today, Charles Moore, author of a book about Fela Kuti, has sued the producers of the Broadway musical Fela!. As presented to federal court in Manhattan today, Novemmber 8, Moore claims that producers of the show 'stole his work', and wants performances of the show to stop. Moore, who reportedly declined an offer of $4,000 in 2007 from the show's producers, is seeking at least $5 million.

This summer, viewers will be able to see his art in abundance in two concurrent exhibitions. On June 10, 2010 from 6 - 7:30pm, DC Moore Gallery is opening 'Charles Burchfield: Fifty Years as a Painter,' an exceptional group of watercolors and drawings that span his fifty-year career. Many are from private collections and have never been on exhibition before or have not been seen in public for decades. The exhibition will run through September 25. Also in June, the Whitney Museum of American Art will present a major retrospective of his work.
