There are certain moments of history that become emblazoned in our collective human  psyches. Fans of American popular music all remember with a searing certainty the day when Charles Hardin Holley was killed in a plane crash at age twenty-two,  his pioneering meteoric rock ‘n’ roll career brought to a tragic end. But if  Feb 3,1959, was “the day the music died “ - as Don McLean wrote - MSMT’s Buddy Holly STORY turns that trope on its head. The new production, staged by Angela C. Howell makes clear that the legacy of Buddy Holly lives, and if MSMT’s production of the jukebox musical about Holly’s legend and his legacy rocks the Pickard Theater to the rafters with its visceral musical energy, it also speaks volumes about the warmth and heart of the Holly story.

BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY will be performed at the Harris Center on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 7:30 pm and Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2 & 7:30 pm.

To witness an entire audience on its feet, joyfully clapping, singing, and dancing into the aisles, one might have imagined rocking at Woodstock rather than in picturesque college town of Brunswick, ME. But, indeed, the exuberance and energy that filled the Pickard Theatre on the Bowdoin campus was a tribute to the triumphant production of The Buddy Holly Story with which Maine State Music Theatre opened its 56th season. The jukebox musical which recounts the last three years in the life of rock legend Charles Hardin 'Buddy' Holly is, in many ways a perfect vehicle to showcase this company's strengths and its new optimistic and visionary artistic direction. Buddy features a largely youthful and hugely talented cast of music theatre singer-actor-musicians, dazzlingly production values, and demonstrates the company's ability to forge an intense connection with its audience.

BUDDY, THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY, rocks its way to Saint Paul's Ordway Music Theater June 11 - 16, 2013, starring a pair of high-energy actors taking turns on covering the title character of this national touring company's production. Kurt Jenkins and Andy Christopher each play Buddy Holly and opposite performances the other portrays Tommy Allsup. Now, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story tells the story of the three years in which he became the world's top recording artist with a show that features over 20 of Buddy Holly's greatest hits including 'Peggy Sue', 'That'll Be The Day', 'Oh Boy', 'Not Fade Away', 'Everyday', 'Rave On','Maybe Baby', 'Raining In My Heart', Ritchie Valens' 'La Bamba', and the Big Bopper's 'Chantilly Lace'.

Pittsburgh CLO is one of the few regional theaters selected by Disney to produce The Little Mermaid. From the depths of the sea to the shores of America, this rockin' season will also feature Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, a toe-tapping trip to the heart of 1950s rock and roll with the man, the music and the legend. This year, through special arrangement with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Pittsburgh CLO Season Ticket Buyers will enjoy priority seating to Disney's The Lion King, part of the PNC Broadway Across America series. In addition to these spectacular headliners, CLO's 2013 season will also feature dynamic new productions of 42nd Street, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Kopit & Yeston's Phantom.
