Broadway's new musical comedy Disaster! has announced that a limited number of $30 general rush tickets will be available for each performance at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street) when the box office opens for that day's performance(s). Limited to 2 tickets per patron, tickets must be purchased with cash only and are subject to availability. Directed by Jack Plotnick with a book by three-time Emmy Award nominee and Grammy Award nominee Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, Disaster! begins performances tonight, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 and officially opens on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 for a limited engagement through Sunday, July 3, 2016.

Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, in association with the Castillo Theatre on West 42nd Street and Harlem's National Black Theatre on 125th Street, present 25 plays by the greatest Black playwrights of all time. They are the pioneers of the Black Theatre Movement from the 1960s and up until the beginning of the new century, as well as those who are carrying on the work of giving dramatic expression to the Black experience.

The cast of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, which ended its twice extended, sold-out run at Vineyard Theatre on Sunday, April 18, will record an Original Cast Album of the musical on Friday, April 23rd, it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre Artistic Director Douglas Aibel. The cast album of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will be recorded and released by JAY Records. Release date TBA.

Although operetta wasn't completely on its way out when Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II brought Music In The Air to Broadway in 1932, the popularity of the genre was indeed waning a bit as jazzy and witty scores by the likes of George and Ira Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart and Cole Porter dominated the decade's theatre music. But the creators of Show Boat, just five years earlier, weren't done quite yet.
