A unique retelling of Charles Dickens' classic Christmas story returns this holiday season when Pittsburgh Musical Theater presents Ken Gargaro's A Lyrical Christmas Carol.

Having recently worked on a number of musicals (including the acclaimed Half a Sixpence), Rachel Kavanaugh returns to the RSC for a play which has some ghosts of the past and present. Sharing some of her earliest experiences with theatre, Rachel reveals what it's like to work alongside a figure from then, and what audiences can expect from this show now.

In the 175 years since Charles Dickens penned 'A Christmas Carol,' there have been countless productions, featuring everyone from Patrick Stewart to Mr. Magoo. The Contemporary Theater Company (CTC) of Wakefield, RI has managed a holiday miracle: a highly theatrical version, enjoyable by the whole family, which manages to be both warm and seasonal as well as sharp and intelligent.

The Liverpool Playhouse has announced an alternative take on Charles Dickens' festive ghost story A Christmas Carol as their Christmas production for 2018.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company's holiday season continues this weekend with Humbug! running December 8 and 9 at the Franklin High School Auditorium. A family favorite since debuting as part of FPAC's 2008 season, Humbug! is an original musical retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, starring the script's writer, Nick Paone, as Ebenezer Scrooge. With musical hits of every genre and live accompaniment by a 10-piece band of professional musicians, Humbug! transports audiences from Dickensian England to contemporary America as the novel's iconic characters and storyline are cleverly reimagined with modern setting and dialogue. Humbug! delivers a holiday gift of hilarity with a timely - and timeless - message.

Peter Battis becomes Charles Dickens as Dickens tells his classic tale of redemption. Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was already a famous and beloved author when he stepped onto a London stage in 1858 to read excerpts from his own works. He quickly proved himself to be a skilled performer who could move an audience to tears or laughter, and his presentations were the hottest ticket of their day. Billed as 'Public Readings', they were actually memorized one-man shows in which the author played all the parts.
