October 23rd is opening night for Radd Theatre Co.'s first off-broadway production, Out of the Basement, beginning 7:00pm at the American Theater for Actors. Writer and artistic director, Danny Coates-Finke, describes the play as "A scary, sometimes funny, always exciting journey down the rabbit-hole of masculinity and its consequences". Show has limited run, October 23rd - October 26th.

In 1968 'Hair,' dubbed the American Tribal Love-Rock musical, exploded on Broadway. It shocked the nation, but gave an accurate picture of a world rocked with chaos. The Vietnam war raged, the peace movement flourished, draft cards were burned, rebellion against traditional values exploded. 'Drugs, sex and rock and roll' became the mantra of the day and were clearly exposed on stage. The show's book was strong and the score was filled with top ten hits including 'Aquarius,' 'Good Morning Starshine,' 'I Believe in Love,' and 'Where Do I Go?' It became the seminal musical theatre offering illustrating 'theater representing the era from which it comes.'

Unable to see AMERICAN IDIOT in New York City, I am so happy that the Third National Tour finally brought the show to Houston, TX. This lively, youthful cast owns every moment of this explosive and exhilarating AMERICAN IDIOT, and I can't imagine any other cast performing this rollicking, raucous piece as well as they do. Every human on the stage gives this show everything they can, and the end result is something I'll cherish for years to come.

Green Day took Broadway by storm with their hit musical AMERICAN IDIOT, which is more-or-less a stage adaption of their record-breaking album by the same title. The musical tells the story of three disillusioned young American men who look for meaning in modern American life. With only a week until the show hits Houston stages, I chatted with Cason Higgins, who plays the adventurous drug dealer St. Jimmy, about the rock musical.

'American Idiot,' in this touring production, is a definitive crowd pleaser and you can't ask for much more than that.

The second play in MALIBU PLAYHOUSE'S 2013-2014 season will be the West Coast Premiere of Belfry by Billy Roche, opening Friday, January 31, 2014. Casting has been announced for the upcoming national tour of Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT, the explosive Broadway hit called "wonderfully raucous" and "emotionally charged" by The New York Times and "flat-out electrifying" by the Boston Globe, which will make its Jacksonville premiere at the Times-Union Center's Moran Theater on Tuesday-Wednesday, May 14th -15th for two performances only.

The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) has cancelled the Saturday, February 9 matinee and evening performances of AMERICAN IDIOT. A Monday, February 11 performance at 7P has been added.

Chrysler Hall is set to welcome the AMERICAN IDIOT national tour this upcoming winter, the punk rock adaptation of Green Day's conceptual album of the same name, from tonight, January 25 and tomorrow night, January 26th.
