HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK: Tony nominees celebrate, Broadway sings Adele, the POPS turns 29, and so much more!

Last night, April 30, BROADWAY SINGS ADELE featured over 15 cover songs to celebrate the pop superstar's greatest hits, accompanied by a full band orchestrated, arranged, and music directed by Joshua Stephen Kartes. BroadwayWorld was on hand and brings you concert highlights below!

The Johnny Mercer Foundation and the American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University will once again produce a weeklong songwriting intensive for emerging songwriters and writing teams, 18-30 led by award-winning master teachers Andrew Lippa, Craig Carnelia and Lari White.

Last night, BROADWAY SINGS ADELE featured over 15 cover songs to celebrate the pop superstar's greatest hits, accompanied by a full band orchestrated, arranged, and music directed by Joshua Stephen Kartes. The concert took place at 7:30 pm. View photos from the concert below!

Some of Broadway's best young talent will sing dazzling new arrangements of songs from Adele's two albums, 19 and 21. The concert will feature over 15 cover songs to celebrate the pop superstar's greatest hits, accompanied by a full band orchestrated, arranged, and music directed by Joshua Stephen Kartes.

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, Broadway Takes Charge, a benefit concert directed by Trapper Felides, took over Le Poisson Rouge on April 16. The event was produced by Antonio R. Marion & Paul Burchette, with a portion of the proceeds going toward The Trevor Project. The event featured the stars of tomorrow, and the stars of today uniting together in a stand against bullying.

Carrie Manolakos took the stage to celebrate her debut album 'Echo' at (le) poisson rouge in New York City April 2.

Broadway Rhythm and Booze, a cabaret series created as a platform to highlight the soulful talents of the Broadway community, will take place on Monday, March 26th at Flute Bar in Gramercy. Performance begins at 9:45pm. Disaster at Disaster! Yesterday, February 26, Seth Rudetsky and the company of DISASTER! DISASTER! The Musical were faced with a real life crisis when cast members Clif Thorn and Kathy Fitzgerald had to call out of last night's production - without understudies.

In memory of the inimitable Whitney Houston, Broadway Remembers Whitney is a concert honoring one of the greatest icons and voices of our generation. Come join us as we pay homage to and join in a celebration of Whitney's life through an evening of her music, arranged in concert for, and sung by, some of Broadway's fiercest voices -- voices undeniably influenced and deeply moved by Whitney's presence and her artistry. Whitney Houston's music -- her iconic ballads, her dance hits that never missed a beat -- has been an undeniable force and source of inspiration for so many in the theatre community and beyond. Hence, it seems only right to remember the goddess herself by invoking this music and basking in the musical legacy she has left behind. We want to do our part to carry on Whitney's name -- as such, the proceeds of this concert will go to the The Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts, a school that aims to teach its students to become contributing members of society now and in the next century.
