Michael Clark Company to Make Miami Debut

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami and the National YoungArts Foundation are proud to present ICA Performs: Michael Clark Company, the Miami debut of Great Britain's renowned dance company. Hailed as "British dance's true iconoclast," Clark and his distinctive choreography combine technical rigor and experimentation through interpretations of ballet, punk, Dada, pop and rock. In October 2016, Michael Clark Company began a month-long artist residency with ICA Miami on the YoungArts Campus that will culminate in five public presentations. The debut public performance will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 7:30pm in the YoungArts Jewel Box.

The Onassis Cultural Center New York launches its fall season with Antigone Now, the second annual Onassis Festival of Arts and Ideas, October 13-16, featuring a new work created by acclaimed artist Carrie Mae Weems presented one time only on opening ?night. Weems participates in Past Tense, the performance-based piece to be presented on October 13, at 8 pm, at the cultural center, 645 Fifth Avenue, NY. Site-specific installations by three contemporary artists created for Antigone Now will also debut and remain on view through December 15.

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) announces today that applications to become a 2017 YoungArts Winner will be accepted from June 1, 2016 through October 14, 2016. YoungArts identifies and nurtures the nation's most accomplished emerging artists in the visual, literary, design and performing arts between the ages of 15 and 18 or in high school grades 10-12, and encourages candidates to submit their applications online at http://www.youngarts.org/apply.

In Ike at Night, remarkable comic performer Ikechukwu Ufomadu, described as the son that Woody Allen and Frank Sinatra never had, hosts a late-night talk show in front of a live studio audience - you. Each night is a completely different and brand-new mix of comedy, music and interviews. With sold-out runs at Brooklyn venue JACK in 2014 and The Public Theater's Under the Radar Festival in 2015, the show features Jonathan Jacobs aka The Vintage DJ as 'bandleader' and B. Brian Argotsinger as Ike's sidekick. The show has welcomed special guests including comedian John Hodgman; entertainer Reggie Watts; Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams; photographer and MacArthur Fellow Carrie Mae Weems; five-time OBIE Award-winner David Greenspan; and many more.
