Global Creatures confirmed today that Baz Luhrmann's much-loved hit show STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL will open in Melbourne at Her Majesty's Theatre in January 2015.
Dinosaurs once again roam the earth when the spectacular production, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS THE ARENA SPECTACULAR, based on the award-winning BBC Television Series, returns to North America this summer. The show that critics have called 'awesome', 'spectacular' and 'breathtaking' will commence a new tour in Cleveland from July 9-13, 2014. This updated production will showcase changes to the dinosaurs based on the latest scientific research including the likely feathering of some species. Worldwide, more than eight million people have seen this show in 243 cities and over 2,000 performances.
As previously reported, following a successful run in Melbourne, the producers of KING KONG were planning to bring the mega-musical to Broadway in December 2014. Due to the 'huge scale of the production' and to allow the creative team necessary time to implement changes, the producers have decided 'to not rush in before the end of the year.'

STRICTLY BALLROOM THE MUSICAL will tango, sashay and bogo pogo its way onto the Sydney Lyric Stage from 25 March 2014, thanks to the original creative team behind the classic 1992 film, director and co-writer Baz Luhrmann, set and costume designer Catherine Martin, choreographer John 'Cha Cha' O'Connell and co-writer Craig Pearce. Rehearsals are set to start in January, but according to the Sydney Morning Herald, the show, which was originally slated to open last month, has been delayed because Luhrmann has been unable to find actors to play his main characters.
According to The Age, the creators of the new Australian musical KING KONG are searching for a theater on Broadway. Global Creatures' producer Bill Harris, technical director Richard Martin and production designer Peter England are vetting theaters this week. The team is looking to launch KING KONG in the United States within the next two years.

In his column at The New York Times, Patrick Healy has confirmed that producer Carmen Pavlovic and the rest of the KONG crew are set to bring the silverback titan to Broadway within the next year - if one of the few houses with the necessary space and fly room becomes available.
Producer Global Creatures have today released an 8-track preview of the score of KING KONG which features the work of some of the world's best contemporary artists, including 3D from Massive Attack, Sarah McLachlan, Justice, Guy Garvey from Elbow and The Avalanches.
