The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2015-16 season award recipients tonight at the 32nd Annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana announces the 2015 New York State Flamenco Certamen, featuring a live dance competition by 10 finalists on the evening of October 9, 2015 at the Bruno Walter Auditorium of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The company has also confirmed dates for other major 2015-16 performances, including its 2016 New York home season, May 3-8, 2016 at Brooklyn Academy of Music's BAM Fisher Building; free 'Flamenco in the Boros' performances in neighborhoods across the city, December 9-16, 2015; and a National Tour of more than a dozen engagements in nine states coast-to-coast, November 5-19, 2015 and February 8-March 4, 2016.

A cast of 200 includes members of New York community organizations and performing arts groups.

This weekend, director Lear deBessonet and composer Todd Almond's adaptaion of Homer's The Odyssey marks the third year the Public Theater's Public Works hits Central Park's Delacorte Theater with a brand new musical spectacular based on a classic piece of literature, mixing the talents of a handful of Equity actors with performing arts groups and community organizations from throughout New York's five boroughs.
