Jon Lawrence Rivera, Artistic Director of Playwrights' Arena - the first and oldest theater dedicated to discovering, nurturing, and producing original works written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights - is announcing the cast for THE END OF BEAUTY by Cory Hinkle, which includes Ruy Iskandar, Silas Weir Mitchell and Tania Verafield.

East Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) will present the World Premiere of Steal Back Light from the Virtual, a prescient play by the renowned multi award winning contemporary playwright Caridad Svich. A unique and uncompromising voice who has never previously been produced in Australia, Svich was born in the US of Cuban-Argentine-Spanish-Croatian parents.

The Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs end their 2018-19 season with two plays in rep, How We Got On by Idris Goodwin, and She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen. She Kills Monsters, directed by Tatyana-Marie Carlo ('20) tackles grief through one of the most popular role-playing games, Dungeons & Dragons. How We Got On, directed by Josiah Davis('20), is a coming-of-age story for three young hip hop artists in the suburbs growing up alongside a new genre of music. Play On Shakespeare in association with Classic Stage Company (CSC) and Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) presents the Play on! festival-featuring 39 readings of new, work-in-progress translations of Shakespeare's plays into contemporary modern English by some of today's most exciting playwrights-May 29-June 30 at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater at CSC (136 E. 13th Street).In 2015, Oregon Shakespeare Festival launched an ambitious 39-play, three-year commissioning project, Play on!, tasking 36 playwrights-more than half of whom were women and playwrights of color, each paired with a dramaturg-to translate Shakespeare's canon in celebration of the enduring impact of the Bard's work. Supported by a generous grant from the Hitz Foundation and inspired by long-time patron Dave Hitz's passion for Shakespeare, the project was and continues to be led by Lue Morgan Douthit. WP Theater, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty and Managing Director Michael Sag, is thrilled to announce the inaugural WP Theater's 40th Anniversary Reading Series. In the first outing of this annual series, past meets present as WP shares staged readings of five extraordinary plays from throughout its history, directed by recent alums and current members of the WP Theater Directors Lab. The 5-night free series will launch on Monday, March 25 and run through Friday, May 3, 2019 at WP Theater, 2162 Broadway at 76th Street.

Starting March 21, 2019, Milagro presents the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Jump, a new play from Charly Evon Simpson, and a co-production with Confrontation Theatre. Jump runs from March 21 - April 13, 2019 on the Milagro MainStage.

The Wilbury Theatre Group continues its record-breaking 2018/19 season with National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of RED BIKE, a new play by award-winning playwright Caridad Svich. 

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces the continuation of its 80th Rolling World Premiere (RWP) production. Red Bike by Caridad Svich opens at The Wilbury Theatre Group (Providence, R.I.) on February 21 and runs through March 3. Other Partner Theatres for this RWP were Simpatico Theatre (Philadelphia), PYGmalion Productions (Salt Lake City), and Know Theatre of Cincinnati. Red Bike was presented at NNPN's 2017 National Showcase of New Plays, hosted by Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.

Celebrated playwright and teacher Caridad Svich will be in Providence this week as part of the Dramatists Guild Foundation's Traveling Masters program. Caridad's visit will conclude with a talkback following a performance of her new play Red Bike on Saturday, February 23 at The Wilbury Theatre Group.

The Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) has announced that it will be bringing its Traveling Masters program to Rhode Island, Nevada, and New Hampshire for the very first time over the course of this month. The Traveling Masters is a nationwide education program providing master classes and events on the craft of writing. The program presents an incredible opportunity for students, aspiring professionals, and theater lovers to connect with the giants of American theater to be inspired, challenged, and empowered. Participants get the chance to interact with award-winning writers, allowing them to learn, ask questions, and develop their talents with input from true experts. Participants in each state gain insight into the real-life experiences of three different renowned playwrights.
