Cuervo, Shaud, Cohen et al. to Star in Cape Cod's THE COLOR OF DESIRE 7/15-17

The Cape Cod Theatre Project has announced casting for its reading of Nilo Cruz's THE COLOR OF DESIRE, which will run from July 15 to July 17. The reading will be directed by Carey Perloff, and the cast will include Grant Shaud, Scott Cohen, Alma Cuervo, Betsy Aidem, Maria Cellario, Jesse Perez, Shirley Rumierk and Rey Lucas.

A.C.T. Appoints Ellen Richard as Executive Director

The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Ellen Richard as executive director following an international search. Richard is a respected theater administrator, whose accomplished career has included such positions as executive director of Second Stage Theatre and managing director of Roundabout Theatre Company.

A.C.T's TOSCA PROJECT Ends Extended Run, 7/3

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) has added five performances to the world premiere production of The Tosca Project, created and staged by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff and San Francisco Ballet's Val Caniparoli.

Carey Perloff to Direct LA's Getty Villa's ELEKTRA, 9/9-10/2

Carey Perloff, artistic director of San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater, will direct Los Angeles's Getty Villa's new production of Sophocles's ELEKTRA, the venue's offical website has announced. The production will run in an outdoor theater from September 9 through October 2 (Thursdays through Saturdays only) and will feature a new translation by English playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker. Previews, for which tickets will cost $20, will be held September 2 through 4. Tickets, which cost $42 ($38 for students), for the production are now on sale.

Beach Blanket Babylon Announces 2010 Scholarship for the Arts Winners

Jo Schuman Silver, producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announced last night the three Bay Area high school winners of The Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon 'Scholarship for the Arts.' The event featured a Glee-inspired opening performance of 'Don't Stop Believin' by the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon.

Augesen, Felciano et. al End Run of ACT's ROUND AND ROUND THE GARDEN, 5/23

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will end its production of the famed British theater maker Alan Ayckbourn's hilarious rumination on love and marriage, Round and Round the Garden, directed by Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Musical, The Wedding Singer on Broadway; Urinetown, Rich and Famous at A.C.T.) on May 23rd.

2010 Beach Blanket Babylon Scholarship for the Arts Finalists Announced

Jo Schuman Silver, producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announced today the selection of nine Bay Area finalists for the Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon 'Scholarship for the Arts.' One winner in each category will be presented with a check for $10,000 towards their college education.
