 Barrel of Monkeys proudly presents THAT'S WEIRD, GRANDMA: Brand New Stories, a line-up of all new stories written by Chicago elementary school students during the 2017-18 school year. Be among the first to experience the newest songs, sketches and dance pieces adapted from stories written by students in Barrel of Monkeys' creative writing workshops. Barrel of Monkeys celebrates its 20th anniversary of arts education in Chicago Public Schools with a special one-night-only event: KIDS WRITE IT: 20 YEARS OF INTERGENERATIONAL STORYTELLING, featuring student-written stories from each of its 20 years, performed by the company's talented team of actor-educators, directed by Artistic Director Joseph Schupbach and co-directed by Co-Founder/Former Artistic Director Halena Kays. KIDS WRITE IT will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 7:30 pm at The Athenaeum Theatre Main Stage, 2936 N. Strawdog Theatre Company's second production in its 2015 - 2016 Hugen Hall season is the world premiere of ROBIN HOOD AND MAID MARIAN, adapted by Forks and Hope and based on Alfred Lord Tennyson's The Foresters, running now through December 29, directed by Matt Pierce at Hugen Hall in Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N. Her Story Theater's Shadow Town II: The JOHNS, written and directed by Mary Bonnett, premieres October 16 and runs through November 23, 2014 at the Mayer Kaplan Theatre, Skokie, IL. Following the 2013 highly-acclaimed play Shadow Town based on sex trafficking of girls in the Chicagoland area, Bonnett creates the second half of story-the 'demand' side and its impact on the purchasers, their families and the sex trafficked girls.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents William Shakespeare's epic Henry V, directed by celebrated British director Christopher Luscombe in his Chicago debut. In a rousing finale to the 2014 season, the play that inaugurated Chicago Shakespeare Theater in 1986 on the rooftop of Lincoln Park's Red Lion Pub comes to the Courtyard Theater for the first time. Shakespeare's powerful history play explores the consequences of war and the capacity of language to inspire and transform. Leading the troops as the charismatic, young monarch is Harry Judge in the titular role. Henry V will be performed in CST's Courtyard Theater April 29 through June 15, 2014.
