A bright summer sun shimmered across the Great South Bay as renowned dance companies, acclaimed choreographers and three standing-room-only audiences came together at this year's Fire Island Dance Festival on July 14-16, 2017. The 23rd edition of the fundraising and cultural event of the Fire Island summer raised a record $585,045 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

On Monday, July 24, Theater People podcast welcomes Broadway favorite Julia Murney. Murney discusses growing up in New York City where she attended La Guardia High school during the year and the famed Stagedoor Manor during the summer.

Two internationally acclaimed dance companies, a celebrated choreographer and a Tony Award-winning host have just been added to the already stellar lineup of Fire Island Dance Festival, which takes the stage July 14-16, 2017, in Fire Island, NY.

This November 2nd, Feinstein's/54 Below will present A Benefit for The Jessica Rekos Foundation to celebrate the life and spirit of the six-year-old, whose life was taken at Sandy Hook School in 2012.

Kenyon Phillips, known for his inventive blend of orchestral rock, surrealist theater and interactive cabaret, will follow the sold-out April 30 debut of his new improvisational variety series at Joe's Pub, the musical outpost of downtown Manhattan's storied Public Theater, with an all-new installment of Unisex Salon with Kenyon Phillips on July 23, 2017. The genre-hopping musician, actor and writer will continue the series with a schedule of performances at Joe's Pub to follow into the spring of 2018.

On Monday, July 10, the Theater People podcast welcomes two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes and Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer of THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG. For the first part of the episode, host Patrick Hinds chats with Osnes (who is making her fourth appearance on Theater People) about her work in BANDSTAND. Osnes, who has been with the show since it's very first reading, shares stories about how the show has developed, why she turned down other roles to stay with the piece, and a personal family story about why she feels so connected to the role.

City of Light has a charming musical theater score with music by Jan Roper, lyrics by Julie Weiner, and book by Gabrielle Wagner. The show will star Kimberly Immanuel (Pacific Overtures, The Fantasticks) as Molly. It will also feature Tony nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse, Big Deal), Anthony Norman (Newsies Nat'l Tour), Darren Bunch, Keri Safran, and Jack Cotterell.

Cady Huffman, winner of the 2001 TONY Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her show-stopping performance in The Producers, directs the New York City premiere of City of Light: A New Musical to be presented as a part of the SheNYC Summer Theater Festival tonight, July 6, through July 16, 2016 at the Connelly Theater.

On Monday, June 26th, the Theater People podcast welcome's ANASTASIA star Derek Klena. For the podcast, Klena tells all about creating the role of Dmitri in the new Broadway production alongside his friend and CARRIE: THE MUSICAL co-star Christy Altomare.

Scripps Ranch Theatre, located on the campus of Alliant International University, presents their 6th Annual Out on a Limb - New Plays from America's Finest City. Scripps Ranch Theatre is a leader in the Southern California Arts Community in developing and producing new plays. The pieces are all new, world-premiere plays written by area playwrights, and have a common theme of having something to do with San Diego. This year, the festival will run for two weekends; July 14-16 & July 21-23, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm.

As previously announced, Writers Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, opens its 2017/18 season with the World Premiere of TREVOR the musical.
