Pocket Utopia is pleased to present Twilit Ensembles, a solo exhibition of new paintings, drawings, sculptures and collages by Paul D'Agostino. Creating sets within series, stories across drawings, sculptures out of characters, and settings from paintings, the poet and artist Paul D'Agostino employs narrative relationships within and throughout his works that are sometimes in opposition to each other, sometimes complementary.
The Vital Vox Festival-an event that explores the myriad power of the human voice in its solo and ensemble forms across a multitude of genres-will take place at 8pm on March 25 and 26, 2013 at Roulette.

The evenings event will be divided, the first half will feature '3dom Factor' with Jon Irabagon- tenor sax and Joe Fonda-bass and the second will be a rare performance by 'BRAHMA' with Ray Anderson -trombone, and Mark Helias-bass.
Roulette presents The Whammies. This all-star combination features critically acclaimed improvisers from the Chicago, Boston and Amsterdam improvisation scenes, in particular 70-year old Dutch drum icon Han Bennink. The focus will be on legendary soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy's early compositions from the 1970's, a particularly fruitful period during his life in Paris. The line-up is Jorrit Dijkstra (Amsterdam/Boston), Pandelis Karayorgis (Boston), Jeb Bishop (Chicago), Nate McBride (Chicago), Mary Oliver (Amsterdam), and Han Bennink (Amsterdam). The group plays colorful renditions of well-known Lacy tunes such as Bone, As Usual, and Dutch Masters, and some of his more conceptual and experimental works such as The Wire, Ducks, and The Precipitation Suite. Violinist Mary Oliver joins the quintet for a selection of compositions and improvisations.

The evenings will feature several of his compositions from recent cd releases on Tzadik including the compositions Ghost Stories for pipa, cello and percussion (Nov. 9) and the first movement from his Quintet for Clarinet and Strings (both from cds of the same title).
