Due to popular demand, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announces an added second show of Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra's Vocal Jazz Summit.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing —the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Lawrence Loh celebrate the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong during the final weekend of the 2016-2017 PNC Pops season on June 16-18 at Heinz Hall.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Summer with the Symphony returns for its third season in June, offering a diverse selection of concerts - from classics to hip-hop and everything in between. There are so many ways to add the perfect musical spark to summer in Pittsburgh!

The Philly POPS and the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts will present the School District of Philadelphia's All-City Jazz Festival, a free day-long music event, on June 9.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra presents famous duets and solos of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, including "Love is Here to Stay," "Just One of Those Things" and highlights from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, April 21-23 in Red Bank, Newark and New Brunswick. Vocalist Marva Hicks and trumpeter Byron Stripling bring Armstrong and Fitzgerald's legendary partnership to life; Lee Musiker conducts.

In honor of Jazz Appreciation Month and to mark the centennial of Ella Fitzgerald's birth, the Philly POPS will celebrate the First Lady of Song's musical legacy with her frequent collaborator Louis Armstrong in a swinging lineup of their biggest solo hits and duets. Master jazz trumpeter Byron Stripling and R&B sensation Marva Hicks join the POPS for Ella, Louis & All That Jazz March 31-April 2, 2017 at the Kimmel Center.

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) and the Santa Rosa Symphony announced the lineup for their 2017-2018Symphony Pops Series collaboration. The new season marks the thirteenth year of the Symphony Pops Series. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Berkowitz, the series will be presented in the Ruth Finley Person Theater at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.  The concert offerings include a tribute to the great Louis Armstrong, A Holly Jolly Pops featuring the Roustabout Theatre, a Symphonic Surfin' Safari with Papa Doo Run Run and a special evening of Love, Lust, and Rock 'n' Roll with special guest vocalist Storm Large.

Rubicon Theatre Company celebrates Black History Month with THE DEVIL'S MUSIC: THE LIFE AND BLUES OF BESSIE SMITH, starring singer and actress Miche Braden of the original Off-Broadway production (named one of the 10 Best Off-Broadway productions of the year by the N.Y. Daily Times). Described by CBC as a, "bawdy, bluesy, boozy rollicking night out at the theatre," the show follows the life, loves and career of blues and jazz singer Bessie Smith, called the "Empress of the Blues."

?Jazz trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison and actor Hal Williams will take their place on the Lincoln Theatre Walk of Fame in an induction ceremony on Saturday, July 30, at 7 pm. Sponsored by State Auto Insurance Companies, the event is free and open to the public.

The Philly POPS announced its 2016/17 concert season today along with a host of new endeavors and updates.

Phillip Wm. Fisher, Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Board Chairman since December 2012, closed the 2015 Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Annual Meeting of the Governing Members today as his last official order of business as Chairman. Mark Davidoff, Michigan Managing Partner at Deloitte LLP, was elected DSO Chairman by the Board of Directors during their meeting following the Governing Members' proceedings.

The Millersville Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band will present the 2nd Annual 'Trick or Treat with a Beat!' at the Winter Center tonight, October 30, 7:30 p.m., for a night of betwithing blues, supernatural swing, and Halloween-howling jazz! Costume attire is encouraged and there will be prizes for the best costumes! The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville.
