BWW Review: SINGIN' IN THE RAIN a Delightful Downpour at Beef And Boards
by The Marriage Matinee - Apr 17, 2018

If you enjoy the old Hollywood, the one full of glamour and beautiful people and genuinely great dancing, then SINGIN' IN THE RAIN is all of that-plus a healthy dose of humor! SINGIN' IN THE RAIN is a musical theater classic and therefore a mite intimidating to take on because expectations will be so high. But at Beef & Boards, they do not shy away from that challenge and instead meet it head on.

BWW Review: Fun and Richly Stylized CABARET NOIR at Happenstance Theater
by Pamela Roberts - Apr 4, 2018

"A film noir inspired theatrical montage"- the subtitle of Happenstance Theater's CABARET NOIR perfectly encapsulates the richly stylized and wonderfully varied experience. Scandals, pistols, foggy streets, soft shoe, sweet harmonies, and red herrings - this production vividly captures the mood and the moment of those dark, smoky movies. Devised and performed by the Helen Hayes Award-winning ensemble, CABARET NOIR highlights the artistic strengths of the company of six.

Beck Releases Dazzling New Video For COLORS
by Tori Hartshorn - Mar 29, 2018

All the Colors. See the Colors. Feel the Colors… on a kaleidoscopic audiovisual voyage with Beck as your guide. Available exclusively at apple.co/ColorsMusicVideo, “Colors” is the dazzling new video directed by Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, The Cornetto Trilogy, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), that brings the title track of Beck's current album to vivid multi-hued life, aided and abetted by kinetic choreography by Ryan Heffington. Beck and Wright's collaboration on the “Colors” video has resulted in something completely alien yet strangely familiar, as if an extraterrestrial culture had accidentally intercepted a transmission of a Busby Berkeley film—and chosen to create their own sequel.

BWW Review: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at Candlelight Music Theatre
by Greer Firestone - Mar 26, 2018

Lerner and Loewe created MY FAIR LADY from Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion". Rodgers and Hammerstein adapted the 1909 Ferenc Molnar play "Liliom" and transplanted the setting from Budapest to the coast of Maine in CAROUSEL. That's generally how musicals are birthed. Not so with THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, which makes its nascency the more intriguing and Broadway fanciful.

BWW Review: DAMES AT SEA: Bon Voyage!
by Nancy Grossman - Sep 11, 2017

DAMES AT SEA is a welcome escape from the upheaval of the moment, if only for a couple of hours. The six-member cast shines with an abundance of smiles, vocal belts, and tap routines that they make look easy. Ephie Aardema, who has previously made a few splashes on this stage (HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, 42ND STREET), is back after a stint on Broadway to play Ruby, that starstruck girl based on the lead character in 42ND STREET. Wearing both the director's hat and the choreographer's character shoes, Associate Artistic Director Ilyse Robbins puts her traditional feel-good imprint on the show. Book your passage now!
