World premieres, new writers and ground-breaking adaptations have been announced for 2017 at the National Theatre.

Rehearsals began today, January 12 for Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical Miss Saigon, which will return to its original home, The Broadway Theater (1681 Broadway) beginning performancesWednesday, March 1. The original production of Miss Saigon opened at the same theater on April 11, 1991 and played there through January 28, 2001. Directed by Laurence Connor (the recent hit revival of LES MISERABLES, School of Rock), the Broadway return of Miss Saigon will feature four of its London stars, Jon JonBriones as The Engineer, Eva Noblezada as Kim, Alistair Brammer as Chris and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi. The cast also includes Katie Rose Clarke as Ellen, Nicholas Christopher as John, Devin Ilaw as Thuy. Lianah Sta. Ana will play the role of Kim at certain performances. Miss Saigon has its official opening Thursday, March 23. Miss Saigon will play a limited engagement through January 13, 2018 before launching a North American tour later in the year.

Prior to its limited release at select SM Cinemas across the Philippines this weekend, MISS SAIGON 25th-anniversary performance in cinemas had a special advance screening at the Director's Club Cinema, S Maison-Mall of Asia last Wednesday, November 9. MISS SAIGON Australia's original star Joanna Ampil and producer Cameron Mackintosh's representative in Manila Dong Alegre graced the occasion.

General Director Plácido Domingo has announced final casting information for LA Opera's new production of Akhnaten by Philip Glass. Cameron Mackintosh announced today that his acclaimed new production of Boublil and Schonberg's legendary musical MISS SAIGON - a recent smash hit in the West End - will embark on a major UK tour opening at Curve Leicester from Monday 3 July - Saturday 22 July 2017 (press night Wednesday 12 July 2017) before playing Birmingham Hippodrome (26 July - 23 September 2017), Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin (Wednesday 4 October to Saturday 18 November), Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff (29 November 2017 - 6 January 2018), Festival Theatre Edinburgh (17 January - 17 February 2018) and Mayflower Southampton (21 February - 17 March 2018). Segerstrom Center for the Arts begins its 30th Anniversary celebration with another one-night-only star-studded evening of dance: Tour de Force III. The performance will be the first event to represent the array and diversity of the Center's artistic programming, in this case, 30 years of presenting the greatest ballet companies and the world's most celebrated dancers. Tour de Force III will be on Saturday, August 27 in Segerstrom Hall. Produced in collaboration with Ardani Artists, the program will include four Center premieres: Clay by Vladimir Varnava, Zeitgeist by Alastair Marriott, Tristesse by Marcelo Gomes and Le Divertissement du Roi by Maxim Petrov. The international cast includes Diana Vishneva, Joaquin de Luz, Marcelo Gomes, Denis Matvienko, Marcelino Sambe?, Friedemann Vogel and Edward Watson, as well as members of the The Royal Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.

MISS SAIGON producer Cameron Mackintosh has just released the details of the open call auditions for the upcoming global productions of the show whose reimagined 25th-anniversary production took London by storm and is set to open on Broadway next year, starring Eva Noblezada as Kim and Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer.

According to Philippine news organization Inquirerer.net, Cameron Mackintosh and company will soon be returning to Manila in search of future cast members for upcoming global productions of MISS SAIGON.

Curve theatre, Leicester has announced its Christmas musical for 2015 will be a new production of Lionel Bart's masterpiece Oliver!. Opening on 2 December 2015, with previews from 27 November, the production also sees Paul Kerryson return as director.
