Up next in Westport Community Theatre's ETC Staged Reading series - an entertaining evening of theatre with the very funny, very provacative off-Broadway hit ' Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead' by Bert V. Florida Studio Theatre Extends THE COLUMNIST Through April 14

Due to popular demand, Florida Studio Theatre announces an extension of the powerful political drama The Columnist, written by David Auburn. This profound drama based on the true events of Joseph Alsop's life is currently running in FST'S Keating Theatre and will now close on April 14, 2013.

TIME STANDS STILL to Play North Coast Rep, 2/23-3/17

North Coast Repertory Theatre will present Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies. Directed by David Ellenstein, the show runs in previews February 20 - 22, 2013 and continues for a regular run February 23 - March 17, 2013.

Even as his latest book attracts international attention, Pulitzer Prize-winner Lawrence Wright premieres his new play at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. A reporter renowned for his work with The New Yorker - and the bestselling author behind The Looming Tower and Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief - Wright is also the playwright who penned My Trip to al Qaeda and The Human Scale. Now he debuts a fictional play about the last days of legendary journalist Oriana Fallaci. Don't miss this sizzling new script, which is directed by Oskar Eustis, stars Concetta Tomei and Marjan Neshat, and features an incredible team of designers. The 65th world premiere presented by Berkeley Rep, Fallaci begins previews in the Roda Theatre on March 8, opens March 13, and runs through April 21. Florida Studio Theatre Opens THE COLUMNIST, 2/1

Florida Studio Theatre presents David Auburn's The Columnist, the story of noted political writer Joseph Alsop's fall from power in the 1960s - opening in Florida Studio Theatre's (FST) Keating Theatre (1241 N. Palm Avenue) on Friday, February 1, 2013. Florida Studio Theatre Hosts Next Act Gala Tonight

Florida Studio Theatre will celebrate the grand opening of the Gompertz Theatre tonight, November 29, 2012 with The Next Act Gala. The theme of the event is "Reflecting on Theatre Past and Future" and will celebrate FST's 39 years of contemporary work. Carol M. Poteat-Buchanan and Patricia Courtois, two of FST's longtime supporters, will serve as the co-chairs of the event.

Presented by OneWest Bank, Coney Island Christmas, a "Jewish Christmas show" for people of all ages and all faiths, introduces us to Shirley Abramowitz (played by Isabella Acres) a young Jewish girl who, much to her immigrant parents' exasperation, is cast as Jesus in the school's Christmas pageant. In COLLECTED STORIES two strong-willed writers from dramatically different backgrounds struggle with success. MCT has also produced Margulies' plays BROOKLYN BOY (2009) and his Pulitzer Prize-winner DINNER WITH FRIENDS (2003). BWW Interviews: Playwright Donald Margulies Talks About CONEY ISLAND CHRISTMAS to World Premiere at the Geffen

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies' Coney Island Christmas started previews at the Geffen November 20 with a scheduled opening set for November 28. This work, commissioned by the Geffen, will honor past artistic director Gilbert Cates, who passed away last year, and promises to be very special. Margulies, who is renowned also for Dinner with Friends, Time Stands Still, Collected Stories, Sight Unseen and Brooklyn Boy among other plays, recently sat down to chat about the play, playwriting and the writers who have influenced his work. Margulies most definitely agrees that with the recent devastation to Coney Island by hurricane Sandy, audiences will look at his new play from a slightly different angle.
