Westport Community Theatre's ETC to Stage DOG SEES GOD Reading, 3/1

Up next in Westport Community Theatre's ETC Staged Reading series - an entertaining evening of theatre with the very funny, very provacative off-Broadway hit " Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead" by Bert V. Royal, directed by Kevin McNair. The reading will take place on Friday, March 1, at 8 p.m. No admission, no reservations required.

Described as an "unauthorized parody" (and we aren't even allowed to tell you what it is a parody of...), "Dog Sees God" is a glimpse into what the lives of one of your most famous comic strip characters might be like as teenagers, 10 years later... and turns them upside down. If you have teenagers in your life - or about to have - or have had - you must see this reading.

"Dog Sees God" is scathingly funny... a guilty pleasure... a biting satire. It covers all of the familiar teenage issues with a group of kids you already know. And answers all those questions we all had throughout the years while following the famous comic strip...

This a footloose, no holds barred black comedy that brings plenty of laughs, lots of - and at the end, you may even find yourself saying "Good grief"...

Note: WCT's staged reading series strives to bring to the stage contemporary works from off-Broadway and new works. Our "Dog Sees God" staged reading is for more mature audiences and is not for younger members of the audience under the age of 12.

Director Kevin McNair is a graduate from Central Connecticut State University with a BFA in Theatre. He is a current member of the Town of Stratford's Arts Commission and is on the WCT Board. Kevin most recently directed The Twelfth Day in Paris with Thespian Productions in NYC. Kevin's strength as a direct comes from his understanding of all roles of a production as he is an accomplished designer, stage manager, and actor. A little bit about this fantastic cast:

Bill Adams, a CT native and graduate of Southern CT State University, with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre and English, was last seen at WCT in "Company." Regional: They're Playing our Song, Evita (Ivoryton Playhouse). Today a Little Extra (Play With Your Food: Westport, Fairfield). Other Favorites: Company, RENT, Bat Boy the Musical, Chicago, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Les Blancs. At the 2008 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, he had the honor to perform in "The Day They Shot John Lennon," and was twice nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Award. He also directed Tom Cole's "Medal of Honor Rag," which was selected for performance at the CT State University's Off-Broadway showcase in 2010.

Daniel Bayer is making his debut in Westport, having performed on seemingly every other stage in Fairfield county! Favorite roles include Bobby Child in Crazy For You (Musicals at Richter); Algernon Moncrieff in The Importance of Being Earnest, Al DeLuca in A Chorus Line, and Andy Lee in 42nd Street (Curtain Call); the title role in Tartuffe (Brewster Theater Company); Mordred in Camelot, Steve in Blues Clues Live!, and every bit part imaginable in Lucky Stiff (Ridgefield Theater Barn); Granillo in Rope (Eastbound); and a member of the ensemble of American Songbook: Songs of WWII (Town Players of New Canaan). Daniel has also worked offstage as choreographer, producer, dramaturg, house manager, usher, spot op, and designer, not to mention professionally, as Development Associate for NYC's Theatre for a New Audience.

Lisa Dahlstrom wowed audiences as Amy in "Company" last season at WCT and is sharing her talents behind the scenes as a member of WCT's Executive Board. She started acting at age 10 when she portrayed Lucy in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown. Fast forward a "few" years and she performs on stages across Fairfield County. Other recent productions include Ruthless (Eve), Boeing Boeing (Jacqueline), Breaking Legs (Angie), A Christmas on Mulberry Street (Giovanna), Rope (Leila), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Philia), Lend Me A Tenor (Maggie), and The Secret Garden (Rose).

Matthew Guitierrez has spent his life primarily in New Mexico, his home state, and Connecticut. He received a B.A. in Acting with a minor in Music from the College of Santa Fe, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. While living in Santa Fe, he was also heavily involved in its local theater and the arts communities. After moving back to Connecticut, he has been involved in productions by Square One Theatre Company, Dessert 1st Productions, and CT Free Shakespeare. He has also been in film, most recently as a police officer in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises." Matthew is currently pursuing careers in film acting and writing.

Diana McCarthy-Bercury is a BFA graduate of CCSU. She is very excited to be back at the Westport Community Theatre working with a wonderful cast. Her past performances include Picasso at the Lapin Agile, COMPANY, Angels In America, Red Noses, The Crucible and The Secret Garden.

Ilayda Muftuoglu is making her first WCT performance. Previous credits include Stories of a New America with Collective Consciousness Theatre, a few staged readings at Yale and around New Haven, and some additional TV and film projects. As a new resident of New Haven, she enjoys exploring the lovely towns that comprise Connecticut and looks forward to performing with Shakespeare on the Sound this summer.

Jason Parry holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre from SCSU and is a proud, founding member of the Bridgeport Theatre Company! Notable, recent credits include Dr. Seward in Dracula and Willard in Footloose the musical. Jason serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for each and every BTC production and is currently involved in a brand new venture - a traveling cabaret group with Handful Productions -http://handfulproductions.wix.com/satbcabaret

Alisson Wood is thrilled to make her WCT-ETC debut! Most recently seen on stage as Dixie in The Big Knife (Eastbound Theater), Olivia in Twelfth Night (Players in the Putney Gardens) and as Tracey in Seascape with Sharks and Dancer (Ridgefield Theater Barn). A founding Board Member of Bridgeport Theatre Company, Alisson is also proud of her work with the community through the performing arts as Theatre Arts Education Director at Playhouse on the Green and Commissioner on the Stratford Arts Council. Past favorite roles include Hermia (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Mark's Mom (Rent), May the Mayfly (Time Flies), and Allison (Brooklyn Boy).
