Brian Brooks to Bring Inventive, High-Octane Repertory to Northrop

Hailed as the 'it' boy of contemporary dance (Dallas Morning News), choreographer Brian Brooks brings his company of dancers to Northrop on Apr 22 at 8:00 pm presenting an inventive, high-octane mixed repertory, a special appearance by former New York City Ballet principal dancer Wendy Whelan, and a residency with the University of Minnesota Dance Program.

Quincy Tyler Bernstine to Star in Lynn Nottage's INTIMATE APPAREL at McCarter

McCarter Theatre Center closes the 2016-2017 Theater Series with a new production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel, a story of an African-American seamstress living in 1905 New York City pursuing her dreams of love and independence. Directed by Jade King Carroll, Intimate Apparel will run from May 5 to June 4.

Laura Peterson Choreography Presents FAILURE, 6/29

Drawing from all-too-familiar experience dreaded by many, choreographer and visual artist Laura Peterson examines the eponymous FAILURE  in the context of both personal and national experience of America, circa 2017. The new installation/performance, showing June 29-July 1 at Judson Memorial Church (55 Washington Square South, Manhattan), takes Peterson's signature formal rigor and visual wizardry to the previously unexamined territory. David Gordon's Live ARCHIVEOGRAPHY Premieres at ODC Theater

ODC Theater is proud to present David Gordon and Pick Up Performance Co(s) in the world premiere of LIVE ARCHIVEOGRAPHY, a retrospective tracing five decades of the legendary theater and dance artist's work. Live Archiveography runs April 20 -22, Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m.

ODC Theater presents THEATER UNPLUGGED

 Next month, ODC Theater is pleased to present the award-winning Epiphany Productions Sonic Dance Theater in a work-in-progress showing for Last Blue Couch in the Sky, scheduled to premiere at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in June. This edition of ODC's signature "Unplugged" format, a recurring platform offering a rare and candid look into the creative process, takes place for one night only, Sunday, March 26 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20, and may be purchased online at odc.dance/tickets or by phone at 415-863-9834.

ODC Theater Announces 2017 Season

ODC, the most active center for contemporary dance on the West Coast, has announced the program for its 2017 Theater Season. Highlights include world premieres by David Gordon, FACT/SF, Monique Jenkinson, tinypistol, Laura Elaine Ellis and Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts, and West Coast premieres by Kate Weare Company and The Foundry. Additional season highlights include remounts of seminal works by Joanna Haigood and RAWdance.

Ballet Tech Kid's Dance Welcomes Guest Choreographers For 6/8-11

Eliot Feld remains committed to creating a repertory of dances created especially for young dancers.  For the June 8-11 season of Kids Dance, Feld will premiere works by Laura Careless, and a second new work by a trio of young choreographers who are graduates or seniors at Juilliard: Conner Bormann, Riley O'Flynn, Stephanie Terasaki. 

Choreographer Kathy Westwater Wins Lumberyard's 2017 Solange MacArthur Award

Lumberyard Contemporary Performing Arts (formerly American Dance Institute) is pleased to announce that its Artistic Advisory Board has selected New York City-based choreographer and dancer Kathy Westwater, whose work The Brooklyn Rail has described as "at the limits of the human," as the winner of the 2017 Solange MacArthur Award for New Choreography.

Jacob's Pillow Announces New Board of Trustees

Jacob's Pillow Dance announces today the appointment of four new members to its Board of Trustees: MacArthur Genius Fellow and Jacob's Pillow Dance Award recipient Kyle Abraham; former New York City Ballet principal dancer Wendy Whelan; lawyer, teacher, and active member of the Massachusetts community Diane Patrick; and Berkshires-based gallerist Sienna Patti.
