Though times certainly have changed from when the Greatest Generation showed true heroism in the battlefields of European and Tropical soil, it's staggering to realize that in 2010, racial issues still feel like a haphazardly patched wound reopened. Prejudice, no matter what the decade, still stings. These themes were boldly explored back in 1949, the year the original production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC first wowed audiences. In this new, exquisite, magnificent revival, director Bartlett Sher lets loose an oustanding, revitalized production that is now playing for a two-week engagement at the Orange County Performing Arts Center through October 24. It's a classic beautifully reborn.

On Saturday, July 11th, Broadway performers from The Little Mermaid, Billy Eilliot, Mamma Mia!, and Bye Bye Birdie Celebrated Canada Day, which is on July 1st. They joined Robert Creighton and Friends for the 5th Annual Canadian Day Party at THE IRISH ROGUE (356 W 44th Street).

On Monday, May 11, 2009, the Lower Eastside Service Center held its 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Silent Auction at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City, hosted by Melissa Russo, WNBC Anchor and Government Affairs Reporter. LESC proudly honored three distinguished citizens for their commitment of service.

Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D is thrilled to welcome Bret Shuford and Emily McNamara January 27th. Bret Shuford can currently be seen on Broadway in Disney's The Little Mermaid( Prince Eric understudy). Mr. Shufords other Broadway credits included Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Beauty and the Beast. Bret has appeared in several Actors Fund benefit performances including The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Emily McNamara created the role of 'Inga' in the Off-Broadway hit The Awesome 80's Prom. She has also appeared in My First Time at New World Stages. The popular comedian/singer/actress was the winner of 'XL Star' and has appeared in Broadway Loves the 80's at Joe's Pub. Broadway Sessions w/ Ben D is described as an evening of music, games and comedy featuring a new Broadway guest each week. It is hosted by actor Ben Cameron (Aida, Footloose, Wicked). The weekly show takes place Tuesday evenings at midtown nightclub Therapy (348 west 52nd street) at 11 pm. There is no cover charge for this event. Attendess must be 21 or over with proper id.
