Deadline reports that, ahead of the premiere of its first season, 'Star Trek: Picard' has been renewed for a second on CBS All Access.

Award-winning actor Sir Patrick Stewart, best known for his work in the Star Trek and X-Men series, will receive this year's Distinguished Artisan Award at the 7th Annual  Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) celebrating his prolific acting career on stage and screen spanning nearly six decades. The black-tie awards gala, honoring outstanding achievements of both make-up artists and hair stylists in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater, returns to The Novo in L.A. LIVE on Saturday, January 11, 2020. The announcement was made today by Julie Socash, President of IATSE Local 706.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Sir Patrick Stewart treated 'Star Trek' fans attending the 'Star Trek' Universe panel to the first trailer for STAR TREK: PICARD and shocked the audience by bringing out surprise guests and 'Star Trek' icons Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan and Jonathan Del Arco, announcing they will be appearing in STAR TREK: PICARD. In addition to the surprise guests, it was revealed that 'Star Trek's' Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis will make appearances in the new series as well. During the panel, it was also announced that STAR TREK: PICARD will premiere in early 2020 exclusively on CBS All Access in the U.S.
