Director Michael Keegan brings Totem Pole's opener some welcome comic relief in a new production of Michael Frayn's beloved farce

Opening as it does at the tail end of the Lenten season, Keegan Theatre seems to be offering 'Behanding' as a welcome antidote to the awe and reverence of the season (are you dreading the family Seder before it's even started? Sick to death of Easter eggs and plastic grass? Suffering from Pope Francis fatigue already? Have we got a show for you …). Although not without its moments of drag and indecision the production is still guaranteed to leave you rolling in the aisles at the utter shamelessness of it all.

The Keegan Theatre presents A Behanding in Spokane, the hilarious dark comedy from award-winning Irish playwright, Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, The Lieutenant of Inishmore). It opens tonight, March 16, 2013, at the Church Street Theater in Washington, DC. Keegan company member Colin Smith directs.

Imagination Stage will bring Natasha Holmes, director and cofounder of Tell Tale Hearts Children's Touring Theatre Company, all the way from the United Kingdom to mount a new production of From Here to There as part of the My First Imagination Stage season. This North American premiere will introduce Imagination Stage and its audiences to 'free play' as an aspect of live performance.

Even though 'Cabaret' is of the 'tried and true' variety of musical theatre and could have, therefore, resulted in yet another ho-hum production, Keegan's intimate setting, attention to detail, and mostly strong casting among the leads make this production ultimately memorable and, at times, even a bit daring.
