A hilarious farce of sentimental pirates, bumbling policemen, dim-witted young lovers, and an eccentric Major-General await you in Gilbert & Sullivan's (G&S) effervescent musical masterpiece The Pirates of Penzance, playing February 11 through March 6 in Santa Maria's Marian Theatre.

Stage Rights announced this week that Acappella is the recipient of the 2015 Stage Rights/NYMF Publishing Award. Roger Bean, President and Founder of Stage Rights, presented the award to book writer Vynnie Meli, who accepted on behalf of the entire Acappella team. Stage Rights and The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) created the publishing award in 2013, and it is presented annually to one or more of the musicals taking part in the festival. Performance rights for Acappella will be available through Stage Rights in spring 2016.

With its glorious, unabashedly romantic score, it's easy to forget that Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan had more in mind than two pairs of opposites-attracts couples when they wrote 'South Pacific.'

Nine highly-talented directors from across the country are already knee-deep in costume designs, scenery sketches, and play scripts as they prepare to create the transformative stories of their plays for the 54th season of the Utah Shakespeare Festival June 25 to October 31.

'Peter and the Starcatcher' is a fun, well-executed production that shows the joys and trials of the hero's journey inevitable to us all: growing up.

Before Wendy… before he was Captain Hook… before a boy was given the name Peter Pan…and before there was a Neverland, there was a Starcatcher Apprentice named Molly, a pirate named Black Stache, and a nameless orphan…and they are about to be thrown together in a perilous (and wildly hilarious) adventure on the high seas. But, of course none of this actually exists, unless you are prepared to use your imagination.

Matt Cavenaugh and Elena Shaddow will star in the concert 'A Broadway Romance,' with Symphoria Orchestra in Sryacuse NY - tonight, February 6, 2015 - 7:30 PM at the Crouse-Hinds Concert Theater. Sean O'Loughlin is conducting. The concert is a finely tuned gathering of songs from the Broadway repertoire, including 'Tonight', 'Somebody, Somewhere', 'I Am Loved', and, of course, 'Lullaby of Broadway' among many others.

A can't-miss 2014 season, which runs from June 23 to October 18, is coming together at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Paving the way to artistic success is a talented lineup of highly experienced directors who are hard at work on this year's plays.

The Utah Shakespeare Festival recently announced the casting of J. Michael Bailey, a Utah actor, to play the lead role of Jean Valjean in the epic musical Les Miserables. After conducting a national casting search in New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles, artistic directors David Ivers and Brian Vaughn found Bailey in the Festival's own backyard.
