Larry Yando to Star in KING LEAR at Chicago Shakespeare Theater This Fall

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announces today the casting and creative team for William Shakespeare's towering epic King Lear, directed by CSTFounder and Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and featuring Chicago theater legend Larry Yando in the title role. A wrenching story of love, loss and reconciliation, the unraveling of an imperious king has fascinated audiences for more than 400 years. Gaines brings audiences aKing Lear for our times, especially relevant as today's generation wrestles with the harrowing effects of aging on loved ones. King Lear opens Chicago Shakespeare's 2014/15 season in the Courtyard Theater, September 9-November 9, 2014.

Hannah Nyala's Memoir POINT LAST SEEN Gets World Premiere at Theater at Monmouth, 8/14

Theater at Monmouth presents a world-premiere adaptation of Hannah Nyala's memoir Point Last Seen featuring Odelle Bowman on Thursday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m. Join Odelle Bowman for this work-in-progress presentation as she tells the story of Hannah Nyala, search and rescue tracker, who escapes an abusive marriage by teaching herself to track in the Mojave Desert. A post-performance discussion with the artists will follow the performance.

Hillary Clemens, Paul D'Addario, James D. Farruggio & More to Star in Gift Theatre's BETHANY

The Gift Theatre artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton announces the Chicago premiere of Bethany written by Laura Marks and directed by Marti Lyons, who previously collaborated on Mine last season at The Gift. Bethany features Gift ensemble members Hillary Clemens (Mine), Paul D'Addario (Thinner Than Water) and James D. Farruggio (Northwest Highway) with guest artists Mary Anne Bowman (last seen in Backstage Theatre's production of A Scent of Flowers), Susaan Jamshidi (Theater Wit's Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England) and Kirby O'Connell (founding member of The Gift's Natural Gas).

Michelle Beisner Joins ESPN as NFL Reporter

Michelle Beisner is joining ESPN as an NFL features reporter. Beginning in September, she will contribute player profiles and other stories for ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown pregame show.

Dominique Morisseau, David Bar Katz and More to Star in SATC's BASTARDS OF STRINDBERG, 9/2-21

Scandinavian American Theater Company (SATC) will present the World Premiere of BASTARDS OF STRINDBERG. This evening of short works inspired by Strindberg's iconic Miss Julie is written by four exciting contemporary playwrights: Dominique Morisseau (Detroit '67), David Bar Katz (Tony nominee for Freak), Andreas Boonstra (winner of Sweden's Thaliapriset award) and Lina Ekdahl (winner of Sweden's Werner Aspenstrom Award). Directed by Henning Hegland and Alicia Dhyan House, previews begin September 2 at Off-Broadway's The Lion Theater at Theatre Row. Opening night is set for September 5.

American Ballet Theatre's NY Summer Intensive Final Performances Scheduled for 7/25

Final performances for American Ballet Theatre's New York Summer Intensive Program are scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2014 at 12 P.M. and 4 P.M. at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, New York.
