The 2010 New York Clown Theatre Festival begins on September 3 with its traditional opening day parade from Union Square through the L line subway to Williamsburg, followed by an open-to-the-public pie fight at The Brick Theater. The festival closes on September 26 with the traditional closing day Funeral, with clowns weeping and wailing in the streets of Williamsburg. This year's festival will also present 5 different clown cabarets, including a cabaret devoted to clowns over 50, Short and Fatty's Half-Century Extravaganza.

As part of their upcoming productions of Leonard Bernstein's madcap musical On The Town and his mid-career masterpiece Candide, The 5th Avenue Theatre announced that they will be sponsoring a series of Show Talks during the runs of both shows, focusing on the life, music and influence of the conductor, composer and 20th-century Renaissance man.
Casting for the 60th Music Circus season is nearing completion. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale is finalizing the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The company is expected to include Broadway veterans, including Tony Award nominees, television comedians, up-and-coming young actors and plenty of returning Music Circus favorites. On Sunday, June 13, 2010 the Madison Arts and Culture Alliance (MACA) will sponsor the 'Madison Artist Studio Tour.' This event will take place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, rain or shine. Twenty-four artists, photographers and fine craftspeople who live and/or work in Madison will be participating in this event. The Madison Artist Studio Tour, organized to introduce and promote the visual artists in the borough, will feature the participating artists' work either in their studios or in exhibition spaces throughout the Rose City.
