Berkshire Playwrights Lab Announces 2013 Season

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present the Berkshire Playwrights Lab Sixth Season Multi-Media Gala Celebration on Friday, June 7 at 7:30pm and staged readings of new plays on Wednesdays, July 10, July 24, August 7, and August 21 at 7:30pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, Mass.). The company will also present its first full workshop production, Anna Ziegler's Life Science, June 19 through June 30 (press opening June 21), Wednesdays through Saturdays at8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm, with the exception of the Saturday, June 22 performance, which will begin at 9:30pm at Bard College at Simon's Rock Daniel Arts Center (84 Alford Road, Great Barrington, Mass.).

Horse Trade Theater Group Opens THERE'S A LIGHT ON YONDER MOUNTAIN, 5/23

Horse Trade Theater Group and Amios will present the World Premiere of There's a Light on Yonder Mountain written by Stacy Davidowitz, Lindsay Joy Murphy, David H. Rosen, and David L. Williams with Literary Director Kate MacCluggage, May 23-June 8 at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Avenue and Avenue A). The production will be directed by Rachel Dart and Jenna Panther and will feature Lauren Berst*, Helen Coxe*, Tiffany Nichole Greene*, Zac Hoogendyk*, Bob Jaffe*, Paul Kite*, and Kristy Powers. The creative team will include Sound Design by Nick Abeel and Lighting Design by R.S. Buck. The production Stage Manger will be Kristine Schlachter.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present a staged reading of James DeMarse's new play, Ceasefire, on Wednesday, August 22 at 7:30pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, Mass.). Directed by Joe Cacaci, the production will feature Tony Award-winning actors Ron Holgate and Roger Robinson, along with Kofi Boakye, Mickey Solis, and two actors to be announced. There is no charge for admission, however, Berkshire Playwrights Lab suggests a $10.00 donation to help offset its programming costs. Berkshire Playwrights Lab announced the titles and directors of its next three staged readings of new plays. Release Point by Gino DiIorio, directed by Jeff Zinn will be presented on July 11; Apeshit (note: if unprintable, please spell it Apesh!t) by Philip Gerson, directed by Bob Jaffe on July 23; and Existing Privilege by James DeMarse, directed by Matthew Penn on August 8.
