Jay Davis who plays the lead Gabriel in Charlottetown Festival's EVANGELINE, became ill and lost his voice right before the first preview show.  Davis did not have an understudy, so artistic director, Adam Brazier, had to step in at the last minute to replace him, it was reported.

Inspired by Longfellow's classic poem, Evangeline takes us on a heroine's incredible journey to find her Gabriel following the events of the Acadian Deportation. Co-produced by Edmonton's Citadel Theatre and The Charlottetown Festival, the remounted Evangeline begins previews in the Homburg Theatre September 14 and opens September 18.

At a fundraiser at Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford to benefit the Hudson Valley Honor Flight, WBT donated a portion of all ticket sales for the opening night of SOUTH PACIFIC. The $10,000 total donation was to sponsor the October 18th inaugural flight from Westchester, with the second flight following in April of 2015. WBT owners Bob Funking and Bill Stutler received a proclamation of merit from County Executive Rob Astorino for their efforts on behalf of the veterans. Scroll down for photos!

The comedy portrays 3 couples who are connected by the men's work. It runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Select Sundays at 2pm through Saturday, March 23.

On Monday Oct 29th members of the original Canadian cast of RENT gathered together with graduates from Sheridan College to perform a special benefit concern in support of Fife House. Produced by Michael Rubinoff, the event celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the Canadian production of the Tony Award Winning musical, and was a fantastic evening filled with songs and lots of love. On hand to celebrate were Chad Richardson, Cary Shields, Dominique Roy, Karen LeBlanc, Jenifer Aubry, Gavin Hope and Thom Allison. BWW is thrilled to bring its readers photos from the evening.

Theatre Sheridan today announced the extension of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical RENT for one week even before it opens! RENT was presented last December to sold out houses at Sheridan College's Oakville campus, and is being transferring to Toronto's Panasonic Theatre where it opens May 16 (preview May 15). On Monday January 23rd Theatre 20 announced its inaugural season in a very special event held at Toronto's The National Club. On hand for the announcement were most of Theatre 20's founding members, as well as members of the arts community, city councilors, special musical guests and invited members of the press. BWW is thrilled to brings its readers these photos of the very special night.

A very special afternoon was had by all at the Wednesday, November 30th Matinee of Home For The Holidays at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. Representatives from several Veterans' assistance organizations including, Hope For Warriors, East Coast Assistance Dogs, New York State Veterans Home and Montrose VA Hospital, were in attendance. The occasion was the presentation by owners, Bob Funking and Bill Stutler, of checks to these deserving organizations totaling over $11,000. The funds were raised in a fundraiser event with the help of patrons of the theatre and members of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts who attended shows at WBT this Fall.

This week marks the end of the successful Toronto run of The Boys in the Photograph.
