BWW REVIEW: ALADDIN Is a Manic Ride on Disney's Magic Carpet
by Jan Nargi - Jul 21, 2018

The mania with which the late Robin Williams brilliantly voiced the Genie in the 1992 Disney animated film ALADDIN infuses every inch of Casey Nicholaw's high-octane Broadway musical production. Now on tour at the Boston Opera House through August 5, ALADDIN is a gilt-edged treasure chest of sensory overload that unabashedly begs for cheers - and gets them - throughout its two-and-a-half hour running time.

BWW Review: ALLELUJAH!, Bridge Theatre
by Marianka Swain - Jul 20, 2018

This highly anticipated new play from 84-year-old Alan Bennett premieres at the Bridge, continuing his long-standing relationship with Nicholas Hytner. It's an exciting get, and there are wonderful flashes of Bennett wit, wisdom and stirring empathy, but also polemical outbursts and baggy plotting that leads to a ponderous and not entirely justified run time.

BWW Review: AN AMERICAN IN PARIS at Chapman Music Hall - Tulsa Performing Arts Center
by Jericho Thomas - Jun 21, 2018

Eiffel in love. A quarter of the way through its second act, "An American in Paris" transforms from a golden-age dancebox musical into full-out modern musical theatre. The quintet of lovers at the heart of its story weave their raw, overlapping passions through three songs written by George and Ira Gershwin. And they do it all while barely moving. It's a welcome moment of stillness in an otherwise kinetic show.

BWW Review: MY NAME IS LUCY BARTON, Bridge Theatre
by Nicole Ackman - Jun 7, 2018

In her West End debut, Laura Linney proves that she is one of the greatest actresses in the theatre industry today. She stars in My Name is Lucy Barton, Rona Munro's adaptation of Elizabeth Strout's award-winning novel at the Bridge Theatre. This ninety-minute monologue showcases Linney's talent as she plays a writer reminiscing about her difficult upbringing and time spent in a New York City hospital in the 1980s.
