Sundance Institute's FilmTwo Initiative: Fostering Sustainability, Creativity in Storytelling

The fourth annual FilmTwo Initiative launches today in LA to support the career sustainability of thirteen artists developing their second features. FilmTwo encompasses two days of focused programming, including a writing workshop (led by Joan Tewkesbury), industry mentoring sessions, and one-on-one story meetings, kicking off a year of tailored creative and tactical support as part of the Institute's continuum of support for artists at key inflection points in their careers. The FilmTwo Initiative is supported by Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.

The Omaha Film Festival kicks off on Tuesday, March 5th with opening night film 'Hotel Mumbai,' A gripping true story of humanity and heroism which vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff is the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, 'Slumdog Millionaire') who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, 'Call Me by Your Name' and Nazanin Boniadi, 'Homeland') is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.

Vulture to Return to Park City with the Vulture Spot

Vulture will return to Park City, Utah, with its exclusive media studio the Vulture Spot for a third year in a row from January 25–28, where editors will interview and photograph top talent from Sundance's most anticipated films. The video and photo content produced inside the studio will be showcased on vulture.com and Vulture's Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts over the course of the festival and beyond. Sponsors for the Vulture Spot include Autograph Collection Hotels, Roku, and Woolrich. In addition, Autograph Collection Hotels and the Cut will co-host a “How I Get It Done” at Sundance Film Festival panel, the Cut's recurring event series about work/life balance, ambition, and success. Autograph Collection Hotels and Vulture will reunite that evening for an intimate celebration championing the philanthropic efforts of the Art of Elysium together with David Arquette and Shanola Hampton. Wrapping up the weekend, Vulture will host a brunch celebrating Girls Weekend, as well as IFC's Documentary Now! after-party, co-hosted with IFC.

AARP The Magazine today announced the nominees for the upcoming 18th Annual Movies for Grownups® Awards, with A Star Is Born, BlacKkKlansman, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Green Book and Roma contending in the Best Picture/Best Movie for Grownups category. The awards celebrate 2018's standout films with unique appeal to movie lovers with a grownup state of mind and recognize the inspiring artists who make them. Celebrated comedian and actor Martin Short will host the star-studded evening at the Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills on Monday, February 4. 

2nd Annual Star-Studded Mammoth Film Festival Unveils Shorts & Episodics In First Round Of Official Selections

Announcing today the first round of Official Selections in Shorts and Episodics category for the upcoming 2nd Annual Mammoth Film Festival. Last year's inaugural festival drew headlines for being 'the biggest first year film festival ever organized' and this year's lineup and events aim to repeat and expand the momentum. The festival is expanding to 5 days and taking place February 7-11, 2019 in the town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. The festival's slate of World Premieres include feature films, short films, indie episodics, VR,  and a wide variety of documentaries. The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.
